Hi all thinking of putting a b to b charger in my 2006 Bessacar on a fiat ducato only a positive red one no negative does it need to have one please any advise thinking about a victron b to b

I am no expert, but your question has totally confused me.

There is a negative lead on your leisure battery, if it was not there it would not function.

Perhaps you need to make your query a little clearer.

I’ve never seen a battery with only one connection pole. A picture would be interesting.

I think you mean the b2b charger only has 1 earth lead?

If so that’s correct, you don’t need to connect to both batteries negative terminals as they are common.

You might think that the single negative wire needs to be twice as thick as the positive wires, because it's carrying the amps for both batteries at the same time. For example, if the input is 12V 20A, and the output is 14V 17A, you'd think it was carrying 20 + 17 = 37A.

But in fact the two current flows are in opposite directions, so the net flow is only 20 - 17 = 3A. So you don't really need a very thick wire after all.The full currents flow through whatever the negative wire is connected to - bus bar or chassis for example.
