Hi, I'm Glynis, with husband Graham and greyhound Silver. We have just bought a Chausson Allegro 93, which we are very pleased with. We are both retired (thank goodness) and have a static caravan in Wales (nr. Lake Vyrnwy). We are members of most of the forums for dog rescue.

I wonder if you could help me with two problems: When we get in and switch the power on, the two mid-van lights come on and we don't know where to switch them off! Secondly, on my Chausson ook, weight is shown as 3500 - yet on the V5, 4000 - which is correct. Sorry to be such a blockhead but I'm sure you'll understand! Thanks a lot. Glynis

Hi and thanks for the welcome - what a lovely place to live. We've holidayed a lot in Pembrokeshire and Carmarthen.

:welco: to the house of fun from the ever so Sunny South Coast. Cannot help with the light switches, but the difference in weight from the handbook to the V5 is probably when the previous owner had the MH up rated to carry more load / Wine from France.(y);) Check under the bonnet or on the door pillars and you should find an additional plate that has the 4000Kg on it. Make sure you have a C1 licence to drive it though and to renew your entitlement early.:cautious:

Thanks Zigisla, Can I get the Chausso 'downgraded' to 3500, as I would like my daughter to drive it, who only has the normal licence. It was sold to us as 3500, so I was a bit shocked when I saw it on the V5

You will need to take it to a weighbridge to see if it would be useable at 3500kg and then I think it would just be a matter of contacting DVLA and asking them to change the V5.

You certainly can, but I cannot tell you how. I am sure those that have will be along soon and If not look in the Search box or start a new thread. You only have 5 posts before you will need to join the group, but it will be the best £15 you will spend this year(y):D2

According to this your Moho should be 3500kg - so it looks like a previous owner uprated it, downrating it will negatively affect your payload though.

You may have read this similar thread on payload issues

https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/forum/threads/whats-a-good-payload.158064/#post-2451524

Take you MH to a weighbridge and then using the information in the above thread work out if it is realistic to downplate. Particularly if your daughter will not be travelling on her own but perhaps has a family .

Do this ASAP as you may have sufficient reason to reject the MH and get your money back if you had it sold as 3500.

Re: lights. Same thing happens on our Swift Bolero - it's designed so that you can see what you're doing when you first get into a dark van. There will be another switch close by it that controls the main lights - a picture of your control panel may help.

Oh yes and :welcome4:

Payload in 3500kg mode is a mere 340kg - according to my previously posted link.

Thank you all - we have now found the switch for the spotlights -- behind the front facing dinette seat!
