Hi I see these very rarely as im driving around on MH's parked up. Is it something I should be looking at and if so can you recommend a brand. I have had a quick look on google and ebay but they all look very cheap and dont look like they would last a season out. TIA

Why would they not last, after all they are just sat there doing bugger all other than covering a wheel and tyre.

This is the 3rd season for my cheapo covers off of Amazon and they are as good as new.

There was a thread about tyre covers last week.

Why do people use them when they're at a show or on site for a couple of days? Never seen a car with them on? Is it not just a money making fad that some manufacturer started with scare mongering stories of tyres perishing?

Have a look at Bags for Everything. Had ours for a couple of years with no visible deterioration and they're a doddle to get on and off.
As for why, no it isn't scare-mongering. Rubber contains plasticisers that keep it flexible. These are unstable and will eventually "outgas" leaving the tyre liable to cracking. It will happen eventually whatever you do but UV light (i.e. sunlight) accelerates the process.
Leaving them off for odd day or two probably doesn't make a measurable difference but a few weeks in bright sun will.
Maybe the reason car drivers don't use them is that a) their tyres don''t cost a Kings Ransom and b) they're not usually stationary for long periods.

I haven't see any trucks using them though, even though they may be stood up for a while, and a tyre for a truck can cost up to £700 a pop.

Because motorhomes generally stand around doing nothing half their lives sitting in the sun, a car and lorry may do 100k in 5yrs as a motorhome may only do 20k in 5yrs with the same tyres…

Where I store my motorhome the adjacent vans mean the sun doesn’t reach the tyres. However the windscreen wipers are a different matter, they get bombarded by UV light. I had a set fail after a couple of years and since then I have used UV wiper covers.

Whether the wheels are stationary, or rotating, doesn’t change the fact that the sun is, virtually, ever present.🤷‍♂️

The sun rises in the east and sets in the west and will shine on both stationary and rotating wheels.😎

No, I thought you were differentiating between the two cases, I wasn’t.

Did I misunderstand what you were trying to say?

What do you expect, its recommended that wiper blades are changed every 6 months.
That surprises me, does anyone actually do it every 6 months? My current wipers are fine at 3 years, just had the MoT, so I will continue with the covers because it would seem they could have saved me 6 replacements.

I doubt it but that's what the motor manufacturers recommend.
