Hi all, I have a hymer e 690 1995 with the 4 circular round lights at the front, lights are dismal I need a full set of adjusters, 1 main beam lamp also, has anyone found a source for these recently or found reasonable alternatives?? Any advice welcomed

I have the four Hella light set up and whilst I rarely drive at night unless it's a very early start for the tunnel etc, they always seem adequate.
Have you checked to see if the reflectors are still in good condition, if corroded and dulled you may need new units ?

BTW w2f

I guess they are Hella lights, should have numbers on the glass so you can order replacements, they used to come with new adjusters - have a Google.

These "projector" style of lights are known for dimming due to the lens becoming contaminated . The Hella versions are not dismantlable AFAIK

Hmmm , now are we talking headlight adjusters , or headlight units here

If we talking headlights , i replaced mine last year . I discovered the mountings where broken , and they were being held in place with silicone . Sourced them on ebay , ordered from a British company , only to receive an email stating they were in their European warehouse , so there maybe a delay with delivery . There wasn't , but i note your in France anyway so wouldn't be an issue for you . The age of your van would indicate it's an early series 2 , 230 , same as mine though mines a late 230 (year 2000) . You should be aware there was a change in headlight diameter . I'm pretty sure mine is 120mm , but there is a 90mm variant . I think the change was with the 240 , but best to be sure , and give it a quick measure . Had no issues sourcing them and brought as a pair . Identical to what i removed , even the part numbers matched .

Give me a shout if you have problems , and i'll source you a pair ! .

As for adjusters , i can't really help . To be honest , i've often wondered the exact same thing myself . Looking at the arrangement on my van , i figure it maybe possible to fit some electric adjusters from a different vehicle . Control maybe difficult , but frankly i'm not at that juncture yet , so my feeling is i'll cross that bridge when i come to it .

I also modified my headlights , with thumb screws from Germany , to make dip conversion easier . The screws were a little difficult to source , and it was a bit more involved , as spacers needed fitting for the thumbscrews to clear the headlight body , but it does work well . I can now switch from left to right dip , in 5 minutes , without any tools from under the bonnet , dismantling nothing .
