The bottom strips peeled straight off, no problem at all. The top decal is so brittle it keeps snapping before we can get going! We have tried a hair dryer but the back is so hot in the sun it doesn’t make any difference.

Any ideas anybody?

it needs to be hotter still, so hot it burns your fingers to get some vinyl off. thats one reason they rate it to withstand the elements for years

Did you try WD40?
Will that soften the decal itself? It’s like tissue paper and snaps off as soon as we put any pull on it, as you can see it’s very faded and looks awful which is why it has to come off. If we could somehow score it without marking the paint underneath - other than that it looks like being a very long, laborious and back aching little job.

I used a decorators heat gun on mine ,the decals and coach lines had been on the van for 20 years. Rubbed them off with rigger gloves and all the bits blew up the street...

I have never used one but was watching a video on YouTube last week and it looked ike it worked well.

I’ve just spoken to our son who has a toffee wheel at work and has offered to ‘show us how it works’.

Thanks everybody, I will post an update asap.

Rather than try to peel it, use a 'sharpened' old credit card to get it off ... once you get an edge started keep sliding the card under it to gently lift it off.

Are you intending to replace the decals with something the same size? If you are you don’t have to be quite as careful with removing the existing ones. I used a plastic scraper (for removing ice from freezer) and a heat gun as the decal does have to be hot for it to come off. Some of it came off easily and other areas were really hard and left a sticky residue which had to be removed with a solvent. In the end I paid the company that done the new ‘wrap’ and decals to finish cleaning off the rest of the residue as it was taking forever and I’d run out of patience.

Well we parked the Globecar in the sun this morning and all the side decals just peeled straight off, Mike was very pleased! Just the back doors to sort out now with the Toffee Wheel.
