You haven't said anything about your interests, if you turn left at Calais and head into Belgium Ypres is worth a visit if the history of WW1 might interest you, the last post ceremony at the Menin gate is a moving tribute to the soldiers who have no known grave, there is a museum in the cloth hall and some reasonable restaurants around the square, and ofcourse the military grave yards of which there are many, small and large. As title within about 100 mies inland from Calais. Good aire too.Montreuil sur Mer is a pretty town and has a nice walk around the ramparts. Not on the sea as its name suggests.
There seem to be quite a few places North and west France called sur mer that aren't by the sea. I suppose the coasts move, as here Pevensey used to be by the sea but is now at least half a mile inland.Montreuil sur Mer is a pretty town and has a nice walk around the ramparts. From my trip a few weeks ago I can recommend:-Thanks will try those but I should have explained am interested in old towns/ historical / unusual places beautiful countryside /views.
And all public transport is FREE in Luxembourg!Luxembourg is nice...lots of castles and cheaper diesel. Some nice old towns in Belgium too. Think I prefer both to northern France.
