It is strangely satisfying when you get a large number showing as the distance to your next direction change!

Particularly so when it’s a twisty road and you’re on your bike! 😎

160miles from Glasgow to Kendal last Friday. Furthest I've seen on UK satnav.

When in Europe I always set my NAV to kilometres as they diminish quicker than miles!
IV always said this you seem to get there a lot quicker than we are used to, though of course obviously we are only going just over half the distance that registers in our brain. (y)

You could get quite a few loo visits in over that distance, no need to stop, just avoid the potholes and sharp braking

Nothing to do with the better roads and lesser traffic then?

Years ago when I was in the States one of our consultants had to visit a customer for the first time.
he wisely asked the client for directions to their premises which was someplace in Wyoming.
his instructions were to fly into some tiny airport (cant remember the name), pick up a rental car, exit the airport, head west And take the 4th turn on the right.
it was 80 miles or so before he reached the 4th turn!

Not unlike arriving by Ryanair at their version of Frankfurt airport which is miles away at Hahn.

When I'm out on my bike in Cornwall, the best distance I can get is: "go straight on for 46 yards" :giggle:

A few years ago in perth wa with son and dil at Xmas . She bought him a satnav so we put it in the car to go on a trip . Quote “turn left at the roundabout and continue for 930 km”
“ Well that’s a b@@@@y good gift Claire “ he said . We still laugh years on

The least the road itself does change direction slightly. The railway line is absolutely dead straight for 478km. And even then it is just a slight bend round a station and carries on dead straight again.

There is a section of road on The Nullabor that is arrow straight for 91 miles.
For the most part of it's 1400/1500Ks there are very few "bends", more like slight curves.
Can't speak of the railway as i simply don't know.
We did however stop a night in Quorn where the famous steam train still visits.

Where you in the the Tardis??😊😊😊
NO silly boy we were in this.
On The Great Australian Bight just off The Nullabor in this pic.
Speaking of bite...................i wont:whistle2:

Every couple of hours our Australian sat nav would wake up and say “keep driving straight ahead”. Not much option really.

👍🏻
When driving in the UK I leave my SatNav on imperial settings. 🤪
I stay metric for all other activities like running (retired from that activity nowadays ☹️), cycling, walking, hiking, measuring things, weights, etc. 🤔🤣
