Thinking of buying a trend scout motorhome. The base van is a ford transit. Heard reports of them being easily to steal. Cannot something be added to make them more secure. They still make the vans.

Gone in 60 seconds! Very easy to override but can use an OSB blocker

Once upon a time a ford transit(years ago) was easy to steal and this has stuck, 25 years on. You will see occasionally someone pops up with this theory however all vans have a level of security(immobiliser, alarms, trackers etc). If a determined and skilful thieving git really wants your van and is prepared to put in the time and effort they will probably achieve it.
Don't let it put you off the van if it ticks your boxes. There are plenty mentions on here about security and alarms, just allow for it in your budget to be added after purchase.

Can any of the "Easy to steal" brigade provide any actual evidence of thefts being carried out?

Yes is the answer. Do a search on here for Transit security on similar words and have a read. But in summary:

You can buy things to lock the OBD port they use to overcome the built in security. Cheapest.

Fit extra door locks. Medium cost.

Add alarm and tracker. Expensive.

Move to somewhere with less crime. Potentially most expensive. 😀
