Hi going to fit refillable bottles to my pilote I know there is a price difference but is that all?
Duffie

Here we go, out with the popcorn !!!

I'll start the ball rolling.
I fitted Gas-it to our present van and the previous.
All works fine and is safe. Gas-it is the cheaper option, so I now wait to be told why I should have spent more for Gaslow.

Or you could have said '\

Having had both Gasit and Gaslow I’d chose Gaslow again
They may be made in the same factory but that’s where the similarities end

I have a Gasit system , Kit Bought self fitted checked by Gas safe fitter. been with me now 7 years no issues.

Gas-it, fitted myself. Don't see the need to pay the extra for Gaslow or Alugas. No weight issues as we don't pack too much.

Basically a few choices. Plus self fit or professional fit.
Own fit? By the system you want and do it
Professional fit? They're recommendation or the system they're confident with

Would Safefill not be another option? The lightweight construction appeals.
I've used the similar looking Gaslight bottles for the BBQ, and do like them.

I have Gaslow and am very satisfied with the quality but perhaps the difference in weight could be a factor in selecting which to buy, after all, they all do the same job.

Vote for Gaslow here. Having said that I haven't had experience of any other make/type. As mentioned on another thread, we were really surprised how little gas the 2 of you use over a 5 week trip, used for heating in the cool evenings, some light cooking, and occasional fridge when not on EHU.

I fitted a gasit system on our last van & they were great, but this time we bought 2 11 kg Safefill refillables to go on our latest van.Best of both worlds, when empty ,no need to move the van,I just throw them in the back of the car & pop down to our local Morrisons. Should come in handy when we make our way down to Spain & portugal later this year as the wife has a trike with a basket on the back:giggle: & your usually only a few klms from a filling station.

Apologise in advance, Im new to this game, yet to collect my ‘new to me’ MH on Friday, but why is it not more common to fit an underfloor refillable gas cylinder?

probably because there isnt as much fiddling about and its a one (or two) cylinders fit all. underslung tanks need to be different sizes depending on what type/size/model of MH. i have gaslow but would prefer underslung

Gasit - just as good as any and much cheaper

Gas it for me.
I have 6Kg and 11Kg bottles.
Self fit and tested by gas safe engineer.
We do a fair bit of wilding and can go for weeks without a refill.
Fill up at our local Calor.

Some say the Gaslow are a bit better, but Gasit do a plus bottle that is as good if not better than the Gaslow. They are still on offer at the minute and we get 5% off too, but the 6kg plus isn't a great price Gasit are also cheaper for the same pipes and fittings.

You won't got wrong with any of the brands, they are all good and if weight saving is an issue look at Alugas

Alugas do aluminium refillable. Half the weight of steel.they also do 14kg bottles which without the collars, may fit.
Autogas2000 in thirsk keep everything in stock, including underslung tanks.

Tinley Tech have everything you need to fit an underslung tank

I opted for 1x14kg Alugas because of the weight advantage. About the same weight as 2xCalor Lite and a bit more gas.

i am always surprised when i hear someone has fitted their own refillable system but havent chosen to fit an underslung tank, which would probably hold more and free up locker space? pipes are pipes whether in a locker or underneath. or is there another reason underslung tanks seem to be avoided? if we get our new(er) van, which will be a keeper, then i intend to change the twin cylinder gas it set up to an underslung sometime next year, if other demands on the toy fund dont deplete it of course!

Mr B I had a 8m mh on a merc twin wheel chassis. There was no room underneath to fit a decent size lpg tank.

I agree, When we’ve done this you find the gas locker becomes a great welly boot and dog ball chucker locker

When we first got our present van I fitted a pair of 6kg Gas-it cylinders in the existing gas locker which is located on the rear overhang on our van.
With the van fully loaded and about to set of for a trip, I thought this was a good time to get the van on a weigh bridge.
Results were we were over the back axle limit, so upon our return I decided to go for an underslung tank.
Reasons, for one it would free up locker space and most importantly it would take weight off the back axle as the underslung tank mounting position on our van is nearer the front axle than the rear axle, so win, win, plus the underslung tank holds 19kg of gas compared to the 12 kg of the two sixes.
