Why do fridges not come with a thermometer as standard? Cost of £4.49 from eBay. (Fridge not on yet)

After following advice from here and fitting fridge fans I was trying to see how effective they were. So I tried different ideas and settled for one of these from amazon Amazon
Then using a Dremel cut a hole in the panel (loads of free space) and taped the external probe in place inside the fridge. Seems accurate within 1deg and may fractionally disturb the door seal, but I would rather know my beer (or wine) was at the appropriate temperature.

I’d be mindful about cutting a big hole in the front panel of my fridge if it is still under warranty.

The sensor will go through the same tube as the thermostat sensor on top of the fridge (it's clipped to the fins inside). I fitted an identical unit on my last van.

I got a cheap temperature sensor designed for a vivarium. Sensor unit goes in freezer or whichever shelf of the fridge i want to test and the main unit is stuck on the wall so we have a better temperature sensor for the van than the one in the control panel which always reads high and you have to get up and press a button. They record min and max temps too and each unit is 3 inchs square.

When I open the door I can see what the temperature is...simples...........I like simple:Smile:

Same here (well ours hangs from a shelf). No electronics -- KISS.

Looks good and only 23-24£s ... but I wonder how long the battery lasts in a freezer..?

The battery lasts months which is great. These sensors are good because you don’t have to open fridge to see the temperature. We all know how long it takes for these fridges to actually get cold. Too long!

I superglued a piece of mini trunking in the fridge and the thermometer slots in nicely. Before that it was always in the way and dropping out etc.

The thermometer it'self has got max/min readouts and an alarm. It uses a standard AAA battery so it lasts years. Was 2 probes originally but I removed the external probe and soldered the internal one in it's place so the alarm can still be used 👍😎

Not for fridge but Lidl have an outdoor/indoor radio controlled temperature station on offer from Sunday 26th. Bought one in Spain two years ago (9.99 euro) and they are very good I fixed the sensor into a chassis member under the hab area no problems with signal 👍👍
