Fridge not freezing.

Are you asking for help or just informing members of your fridge status ??????
If you are asking for help you need to provide much more information, i.e. are you on gas ? hooked up to 240 V? Is it the fridge and freezer or just one compartment. Has it ever been serviced ?

It doesn't get cold on gas in freezing compartment or storage . It has been Ok but just started failing. Will try on Mains .

What’s the ambient day time temperature where you are now?

Perhaps it's broken!!!!

Check the flue and clean out all the soot. A long radiator brush will help start from the top of the flue on the roof.push the brush downwards with string attached to it and a vacuum working at the bottom to pick up all the spot

Absorption fridges don’t like warm weather they struggle in temperatures over 30 degrees . Some people fit little fans at the back of the fridge to move the air through the fins

It has been very warm and the fridge is warm inside... gas is staying alight and tried on Mains . Will try fitting fans.

When was it last serviced? Assuming you are a fairly frequent user, if it has not been serviced in the last 3 or 4 years, it probably needs the gas side cleaning out and a new jet. Possibly a new jet holder too if that is badly corroded. If you decide to clean the flue yourself, remember there is a baffle hanging down inside from the top of the flue and this must be removed before trying to push a flue brush down.

The gas is burning ok nice flame...van set level.... will take out of van and test/service on return.

Is there anywhere that will fit the said fans to the back of the fridge, I’m a numpty and I think I’d balls summat up. My freezer was just coping in the 32-33 heat of Austria a couple of weeks back? a couple of degrees higher it probably wouldn’t have coped!

If your flue needs cleaning the gas will still burn with a nice flame. This is why many are confused about the fridge not working correctly on gas.

A fan in very warm weather is pretty much a must-have- But it's worth turning it down a notch, some fridges in warm weather on gas have a coolest sweet spot that is below full. So while waiting for your fan to arrive, pull the dial a notch from max and see it it helps any. (y)

If hot external temperatures think about how you position the van to keep the fridge vents out of direct sunlight all day.

You could also take off the top fridge vent as this can help.

I have seen many a French van with the top vent off in hot weather.

I too, have seen many a French man with his top off! Not a pretty sight. ?

Clean the Flue and the burner, take it out and soak it in wd40 then blow it through to make sure the jet is clear. It works for me, good luck.

My fridge couldn't cope in last week's extremely high temperature (43°). We bought a fan, a USB fan and placed it inside the vent and left the vent cover off, it helped enormously. Now temps have fallen to 26°it's working fine without the fan. It's even freezing stuff again. I didn't buy any ice cream last week because it failed and we really wanted some to cool down in that heat.

I read on here recently about thermal paste between the cooling element and cooling fins inside the fridge.
Apparently it dries out and loses effectivness over time.
I plan to do mine when I`m next at a loose end.
There is a thread on it somewhere.

Thanks for all the replies--am back now and pulling fridge out tomorrow and cleaning flue/burner and fitting fan that I bought a while ago. Will report back when done!
