Hi peeps,
I have purchased and fitted a 12v display and it works fine then as an after thought wondered if it should have an inline fuse? And or switch
It’s wired direct to my 2 leisure batteries 115AH x2
Any advice appreciated thank you

Yes and no, a 1 amp inline fuse wouldn’t go amiss and no to a switch as it saves leaving a night light on for when you get up the numerous times in the night for a pee.

Wouldn't worry about it draining your batteries.
It probably draws 10 to 20 milliamps/hour so will run for 500 to 1000 hours before you're down to 50%.

But as said, a 1 amp fuse in case it decides to go pop and short circuits.

The Electroblock in Hymer MHs have an internal voltmeter and a thin separate dedicated wire to the battery. It has a 2 amp fuse to protect the wire, which is a good idea for any voltmeter.

many many years! since I was a kid
I am pleased to hear you added the fuse, those little voltmeters are cheap chinese rubbish and can fail dead short. personally I would fit a momentary switch so it only powers up when needed

I'd do exactly the same (y)

It's not something you need to monitor all the time :)
