First trip to Spain and wondering how to get UK tv. Got Avtex tv which mentions tuning in satellite?

First trip to Spain. Have avtex tv and mentions tuning in satellite tv but we not getting any uk stations. Can’t see a satellite dish so do we now need to buy one to get uk tv programmes. Seems a stupid question but we really don’t know what we are doing. Newbies.

It seems you need a BIG dish to receive UK TV any further south then the Spanish border. The UK satellite doesn't cover that region.

You can get Astra 2 with a very limited number of English stations but that is all I have been able to get. So enjoy the sunshine, sea and anything else available.

Just get a decent amount of data on your phone and tether to that if you want to watch TV. Have occasionally watched Netflix abroad. You may need to use a VPN for BBC etc.

I have tried VPN but this now still does not get me through as I understand BBC and itv are aware that people have been doing this. I did wonder whether I could subscribe to itv hub and whether I could then watch uk tv programmes in Spain but don’t want to join and find I can’t. Thank you all of you for your suggestions.

If you use a UK based sim there is no need for a VPN, obviously need a lot of data though, we can watch about 2 hours a day, a few hours radio and general browsing, banking etc using around 60gb a month.

So this seems to be the way forward increase my data on my phone contract which I can do. Will have a look and see what package I can get. Thank you.

Hi we are in Javea Costa Blanca and we have a 1.4m dish, but you can get UK tv in this area on the European beam Astra 2 with a 85cm dish, but struggle with the main BBC itv and so on, but not impossible, but you will find things to watch in English. Bob.

We’re watching through a 2mtr dish on top of the toilet block and a decoder box pointed at the Gibraltar satellite, not sure how keep that going when we set off later this month....... a longer piece of coax perhaps

if you not in contract i would look around theres a few great unlimited deals arou nd now

We're off to Spain in a couple of weeks, and the motorhome TV will not be going. Simple!

We re not bothered about general TV but like to get UK news and F1/football If you choose astra 1 you can get world news, SKY news and France 24, and football and F1 just about anywhere on RTL if you dont mind only having commentary in German - they are visual sports afterall. You do need a dish though, tripod one from local shop?
