IH 600RD

Took my IH 600RD for its first service at Rockingham Cars, Corby today as they are my nearest Fiat professional garage. I was quoted £480 over the phone when booking but actually cost was £440.01. That was broken down as £168 labour, £30.25 for a pollen filter, £41.45 for an air filter, £15.06 for an oil filter, £3.25 for a sealing gasket, £45 for a fuel filter, £54 for 6 litres of Selenia WR oil and £10.50 for brake fluid. VAT was £73.50. I realise I could probably get it serviced cheaper in Belgium or Germany but is that about the going rate for a main dealer in the UK ?

It’s less than I paid at Fiat Professional Bristol 2 years ago.

As it doesn't need a service for two years I wait until two years is up and it's out of warranty then get it serviced by my local independant at ½ that price.

Blimey. Glad mine is a Renault Master. Service by a Renault dealer (every two years) is half that. Of course, now I've said that, there will be something horrendously expensive to foot the bill for next time :-)

Having purchased mine in the UK I get 3 years warranty hence having it serviced at the main dealer .

We get ours serviced at North East Truck and Van, Fiat Professional /Iveco commercial.
What you had done cost us £280 last year, including MOT. You appear to have Guest Truck and Van, Fiat Professional in your area, maybe worth a try.

Thanks for informing me about Guest Truck and Van in Peterborough I'll definitely contact them if I need any warranty work in the next year .

Out of interest how old is the van and how many miles has it done?

Dealer service?
If so I'd love you to go out and check to see if they ACTUALLY changed the pollen filter, especially so if it's in a stupidly designed position..
The amount of dealer serviced vehicles I've had in to work on after "warranty" had ran out (haha what a load of bollocks that is but that's another story for another time)... that the pollen filter was so clogged it must have been factory originals was ASTOUNDING!

Oh and if you have a spare... check the pressure. I bet they didn't do that either. or lube the door hinges / locks. and I bet the wheels never came off either.. So in five years when you get a flat for the first time the rim damn near needs bashing off with a sledge hammer.
Dealer servicing is a JOKE and I really don't understand ANYONE who uses them.

sorry you've started me off.. I better go have a shower and get to bed before I blow a gasket :D

Just out of interest, doesnt have to be serviced at a Fiat garage to maintain the Fiat warranty

Mecedes "B" service £210-00 (ish). (Sprinter base). Mer-Tech (independants) in HULL.

Why did they fit a pollen filter, fuel filter and brake fluid at first service? Is the van high mileage of used in a very dusty area? What was the gasket for? Our first service at a Fiat professional garage was far less than £400.

Had a total service with new filters brake strip and clean last week. They also greased the trusty Alko axle. Total price was £285. I've always used a very reliable and thorough local garage near Durham called Rochfords. Family business who've been going for generations. They also look after other vehicles for me and carry out mot tests.

If it was at a low mileage fiat do a smaller service at half the price mine was 250£ 9000 miles fiat main dealer.

My 3 x 3.5T sprinters at work are serviced MB main dealer and it is fixed cost. i tell them not to spend any extras without my authorisation, i then check the cost of any required extra work with a local independent garage, for as long as they use MB parts, the warranties are kept intact. i will be doing the same with the ford MoHo

I did our service this year. Cost is £7 ? but I did already have the oil from a bulk buy last time. Just had to buy the oil filter.

I sputtered over my brandy when I saw the charge.

A local commercial garage did mine at half the price - and took me home and picked me up rather than me having to walk the two miles.

Still, it's only money .....

?
Herrings ?

The van is two years old [actually it was two years ago today that I collected it ] . Low mileage only covered 5,460 miles at the time of service. I realise I could have had a local garage carry out the service at far less cost but when you spend £60,000 on a van I'm happy to keep the three year warranty by having a main dealer service it . I also took the van back to IH for the annual habitation service and I know I could have had that carried out much cheaper but they are lovely genuine people to deal with .

Ditto, never paid more than £220.00 for a full service, much less for an interim, and use a local garage that I trust, and have used for years.

Obviously Bristol is a far more affluent area than Corby.
