Well after spending lots of years self employed and being devoted to work i have finally found my escape. Over the years i have spent a few times trawling for a motorhome but it was distant dream. Last year i nearly purchased one but it all fell through. Earlier this year i got the itch back and started looking. After viewing quite a few and being disappointed, getting involved in one that was a scam and nearly loosing quite a bit, then nearly giving up again a motorhome came up about 10 miles from home at a local specialist. It was taken in part ex, was filthy dirty. The dealer did not know much about it, said no history etc. Well going through the motorhome i found a file full of history and reciepts which included the previous owners mobile number. So i nipped off and have him a call and what a nice bloke he was. He has swapped it in against something newer with a fixed bed and the price i had bid was already 1k lower than he had received as a part ex.

So cutting a long story short i went back and bought it! So what do we have?

1996 Swift Royale 630 'plus'. No idea what the plus is but its proudly displayed in the decals.
80k
blow air heating
6 birth
U shaped lounge and kitchen area with table and bed over the cab
Air conditioning
4 x michelin tyres
roof box
all the usual stuff really.

We have now owned it a month and have so far done quite a bit.

Added USB ports front and rear.
Added a DAB handsfree sony head unit
Been on the roof and resealed every joint i can find with sikaflex
given the whole thing a very intense deep clean including buying a rug doctor, removing the whole interior, scrubbing and rebuilding
repair to the water pump
repair to the cascade heater (top pressure valve)
repair to a leaking and blocked waste tank
adding a TV

Future stuff to do

Full service including all fluids, belts filters. Cam belt was done 5k/18 months ago so may leave that.
Get underneath and remove all loose flaking rust and treat with rust preventer and POR15 then dinitrol protect it all. The van has never been welded and is solid which was another attraction for me as i saw some awful rotten ones and repair jobs!

That is about it for now, we have already done 700 miles in our first month, have stayed on some sites and enjoyed a few weekends away, really enjoying it so far. No doubt i will be asking a few questions as things break etc! Just wanted to say hi.

Ash.

Yes check the age on the tyres and for any cracks in side walls of tyres.
Don’t forget you might want solar panel(s)!
