Wondering if anyone has had a letter from fiat about a recall for the turbo, I have rung Fiat and they say I have to have it checked immediately, the problem is I am in Spain, my Spanish isn't good enough to explain to the garage and it has already taken Fiat 48 hours to get back to us, they are saying we have to take it to a dealer and if we need a new part will have to return to the same garage , I am a little worried if they don't have the part in stock and say the vehicle isn't drive able I have nowhere to go. So I am hoping one of you has already has this done and can advise me if it is safe to drive .

Maybe a very silly question from me, but how would Fiat know the very recent owners contact details of their cab/chassis. I am asking this as we have just picked up our new 2017 150 Euro6 MH, All the DVLA reg stuff done etc, would it be the dealer that passes these personal ownership details to Fiat via The Manufacturer? or would it be done via The DVLA? How would I know about a serious recall this early?
Thanks for any advice you can give us.

The dealer registered ours, but I did contact Fiat to check they had the correct details

The Fiat Professional dealer said that it takes them about 4 days to get the parts from Fiat Italy and they are stowed out doing Fiat recall work, so I have had a 2 week wait to get a slot to get the work done.
I'm booked in for Tuesday 14th

I've not asked but I'm not using the van this couple of weeks. I used it a couple of weeks ago after I was told about it with no ill effects as far as I can decern.
This is up to you of course

Just checked the app and there is a warning saying to contact a service centre, if you put your VIN in on the website it just says there are recalls in progress but no info.

as @Lenny HB said - you can do an elementary check with your VIN here https://www.fiatcamper.com/en/home but you don’t get any info - and you don’t get anymore on the camper App.
I got the recall details from Fiat Camper Customer Service when they called me.

found this on the web

Fiat has issued a recall for 56 of its 2016 and 2017 Ducato vans fitted with the 2.3-litre ‘Multijet’ engine over concerns the camshaft could crack.

The Italian company reports the camshaft could crack while the vehicle is in use due to a manufacturing fault.

If the conditions occurs, the vehicle could stop suddenly, posing a safety risk for occupants of the vehicle and other road users.

From another forum:-

hi guys had my egr pipe changed today long job took 5 hrs the sub frame needs to be dropped down for access. i asked to see the offending part which had a split about 30mm long around the mounting bracket during a conversation with the fitter he said when the pipe splits it will cause damage to the alternator wiring which is very close so check if your 2016/7 has a recall on it i only found out about the recall from a post on here i did not get any contact from fiat

God knows how long it's going to take them on an A class, maybe OK if it's done from underneath.

Edit: Gerry beat me.

Our 2017 150bhp had the camshaft recall done before we collected it new, and has already been in to see if it needed the egr recall, which it does, and is now going in on the 13th to have the work done, the Fiat dealer reckons the engine had to be dropped to do the work on a A class!

Presently setting up registration details on The Fiat Camper APP, lot of details required or what?
We are scanning in copies of everything including my driving license, V5, Warranty Form (partially completed by Carthago but all in German). Wish me luck on getting it set up properly and getting it live.
Will be interesting to see if we get a Green or a Red indicator, the suspense is too much!

That link doesn't recognise my VIN.

I'll give the App a try, but my VIN appears to be earlier than the range mentioned for the cam shaft problem above, assuming C comes before D in their numbering system anyway.

Once I went into the app it started showing a warning sign, but if I hadn’t read the form, I wouldn’t have gone into the app. It is a bit of a faff loading all the information on the app, and I assume I entered an email address.
Seems a shame they didn’t email me.

No need to bother with all that (unless you want to of course :)). Just go to https://www.fiatcamper.com/en/home and enter your VIN in the Chassis Check box at the bottom right corner.

You can register or log in to My Ducato from that page also. They have recently refreshed/restyled it though, and to be honest it contains far less information on my van at least than it used to, which wasn't a lot to start with. No longer seems to be any access to the build specification, and the warranty information is less than was previously shown :(

Edit: See that @Lenny HB has already mentioned this. Teach me to read posts properly rather then scan reading them before posting
