We have our Dethleffs motorhome ready for it’s first service so I phoned Fiat Professional to book her in. I was then quoted £660 - and I think - plus vat, ( not sure as my gasp was fabbered at £660).
As she is now out of warranty and my usual garage, using Fiat parts would be almost half that quote. Woulld you use Fiat or your tried and tested local service station??
TIA

Always get my services done at local independant, first one just after 2 years so out of warranty.
Light service about £130, full £250, plus about £40 if I want the brake fluid changed.

IF its just oil and filter, air filter (depending what was done at your last warranty appointment, why not do it, when it gets warmer,
yourself.
If you have a Fiat, the only tricky bit is the fuel filter, but you can get that done by a professional later.

The brakes etc inspection can be covered by the cost of an MOT pre-check at the same cost.

OR, stick to your tried and tested and more importantly, trusted!

You don’t have to go to Fiat to retain your warranty. It can be done by your preferred garage as long as they use Fiat parts or equivalent quality. I have done this a few times, never had a problem with warranty issues.

Same as DelMar we have ours done at a garage that uses Fiat/equivalent parts.

I simply use the dealer I purchased the MH from, £660 is absurd.

Hi.
NO NAMES. Went into a local Fiat Truck Sales yard/garage and asked if they could do a service and price of, on the Ducato. The lady at reception said yes. I knew they had a night shift,so said i would be ok if they did it overnight. Reply. " Oh,we don't do them here,we send them to a local garage to have them done..xxxxx's.." WINK. Admitted,i had often been in the Fiat depot for spares, but used the " Local" garage and paid half the price. BEWARE of it being farmed out,if you have a prefered garage, use it.

The fuel filter on the 2.3 Ducato is one of the easiest I've ever had to remove.

I agree BUT after replacing the filter, a lot of people seem to find they have leaks or have done it up too tight and cracked the housing?
Its easier IF you have the proper thingy to hold the filter housing and a torque wrench!

This is after removing the N/S headlight of course!

I recently had mine at a Fiat Professional (motus) for the brake line recall. As it's almost 2 years old I asked the lady at the desk the cost for the first service. Around £500 was the answer, when I gasped she said that's the usual reaction, I said I'd have a think about it she then said that's usually what they say. :giggle: :giggle: . She then said I wouldn't bring it here either. These commercial places must get away with murder because companies and not individuals are paying it.

I changed the oil in mine at a year old, The fuel filter on the 2.3 Ducato is one of the easiest I've ever had to remove. Easily accesible from underneath at the front no jacks or lifts required.

From underneath??? are we talking a X250,surely not? I think you maybe talking about the OIL filter?

When my X290 had a 2 year service (after 3 years, in fact) it included brake fluid and coolant change. About £360 including VAT.

Seemed reasonable to me. Carried out by a Fiat Professional garage.

I notice they didn't do the clutch, it's a pain to do but always strikes me as strange that it's not included in any service schedule.

We have three Fiat Proffesional ( ha bloody ha ) dealers within about an hour ish one of them carried out our first service for about £300, they just done a small service and stamped the service book.

I know you can use independants but I wonder what the resale difference of the van would be, ie if you had two identical vans for sale one had full main dealer history and one had independant what the price difference would be, or what you would be willing to pay. I know there will be plenty of people that will trust their garage more than a main dealer ( rightly so ) but as a buyer you probably wont know the independant.

We have the extended 5 year Fiat warranty so I think we are obligated to use them. But our first service was more than £600!!

We have a van on order to compliment our travels with the boat with family relays. Worked well with the caravan doing the East Coast 2019 but the Van will be more agile down through Europe on our next jaunt. But one question; is the 5 year warranty transferable to a new owner?

With the Euro 5 upgrade the filter type was changed and the plastic housing is no more, it is a complete aluminium throw away canister.
Be aware though there are two types with and without water sensor, the water sensor one's price will make your eyes water.

I've had 3 new Fiat motorhomes all requiring the 1st service at 2 years. I booked them in 1 month before expiry of the warranty with a Fiat dealer and then a week before, if all well, book into an independent and cancel the original booking. If an engine is going to fail in a big way its going to be early and if it doesn't, on the next one, I'll have a good few £100 in my pocket to pay for it.Self insurance model I call it and works across tv's, white goods, boilers etc.

No idea whether it’s transferable.
