Good morning,
With time on my hands I am looking at every angle because when this situation changes I'm changing my Rapido. I intend to travel Europe for 3 to 4 months consequently fuel consumption becomes important and we are very unsure of the impact of Brexit!!
Could anyone give me a figure for MPG on a Ducato 3 litre van conversion.
Thanks in anticipation and stay safe.

We had the 160 bhp version and it was surprisingly good when compared to our previous van 2.8jtd

I am afraid there is unlikely to be a meaningful answer unless you specify the type of body and weight you are considering
In general though, the 3ltr fiat lump can return better MPG that either a 2.3 or 2.8 ltr option

pulling a 5 tonne tag axle with car behind, high 20s is the best I have had

My 160 bhp Fiat laden to near it's max weight of 4250kg does about 22 mpg on a run.

Ours is twin axle 8.35 mts and 5.25 tonne.
Ive had up to 28 mpg, but even when fully loaded and over varying roads through France and Spain average just over 25 mpg.

Should have said, ours is one of the last Fiat 3.0 lt, being a 2017 and 180 Euro 5+

We had the160bhp in out Autotrail tag axle Arapaho, the engine had been remapped our average was always around 27 to 29 mpg we did managed 31 mpg once on a run up to Scotland but we did have a good old tail wind helping us along.

We have a 4.5 ton Adria sonic 3.0 litre remapped to 210 bhp, best we had was 27 mpg, usually 25 ish

Did Spain and back avoiding tolls, going over Pyrenees etc. Just chugging at 4.00T and we averaged 28 mpg.

We had a constant 29mpg using cruise and a light foot out our 3ltr in europe, fully loaded with a scooter in the garage.

We are the same with 5 tonne tag axle, but ours is a C-class. Best I have ever returned via the trip computer is around 23..normally 21-22. With the toad on the back and in favourable conditions, this equates to between 18-19.

Hi Steve, did you have it updated from 4.25 ton? If so was it easy and/expensive?
Also who did your mapping to 210bhp?

I like the Sound of those mods for my sonic!!👍

If you are looking at an actually PVC rather than a coachbuilt then I'd expect it to be somewhere between 27 mpg and 30 mpg most of the time. This is based on the 130 bhp and 150bhp Fiat PVCs we've had, running at between 3450kg and 3800kg carried weight, there wasn't a lot in it to be honest.

Yes we had it uprated from 4.25 to 4.50 ton Sv tech did the paperwork, we had uprated tyres fitted on the rear, so the rear axle can carry2.6 ton.some form of air suspension was needed, so after a lot of cogitation we decided to fir air all round, that was the expensive bit. Courtside conversions in tiverton did it all for us, very good they are as well

As for remapping, it was done by a firm Chelston motorhome use, hasn’t made a scrap of difference to fuel economy, but we have a lot more grunt when climbing hills

Lunar Roadstar 4250kg 160bhp 22 mpg maximum.With a headwind 18 mpg

If by van conversion you mean a 3.5t PVC then from my experience of a 3 litre 28mpg is easily achievable and if you take it steady a little over 30 isn't too difficult.

Brexit will restrict you to a maximum single trip of 90 days then you need to return here for another 90 days before you can return. There are a few optomists who think differently and I hope they are right :) but realistically I would plan on 90 days.

4000kg Ducato / Burstner coachbuilt. Manual 3.0L 160 Diesel Multijet, average 25mpg effortless touring Europe.
Excellent grunt/torque for ascending in the mountains. Lovely engine.

Suffolk to South Wales, Pembrokeshire coastal and back. Suffolk to Yorkshire and back. We averaged 25 mpg. Mixed driving conditions.
180 HP 4.5 ton Burstner Ixeo.
I use cruise control when ever I can as well, around 65 MPH cruising.

We had a 2008 Laika 680 Rexosline A class plated at 3850kg with a 3.0l 'Fiat' engine....actually an Iveco.
Pulled like crazy. 28mpg, no bother.

2018 2.3 130bhp PVC, on a run we get 32mpg have seen a little more but 32 seems pretty consistent

A lot are quoting the onboard computer mileage and in my experience it's not that accurate as it over eggs the pudding, the only accurate way is to top the tank each time and divide the mileage by litres/gallons put in. Being a bit anal I use the App Fuelio which works it all out and keeps a record. I need to get out more, don't I?

3ltr 160 bhp remapped to 190 bhp fully loaded at 5ton about 23/24 mpg normally. Driving down through France and Spain on long runs have had up to 27/28 mpg. (y)

I've the 160BHP 3.0ltr and found that buying Shell V Power diesel costs 10% more but improves my MPG by 12% so with V Power 28-29 standard fuel 25-26.

But my engine is run-in 120K miles
