I have a light switch by the hab door which allows the light over the entrance to be switched on/off. It bypasses the main light switch on control panel.

It is working intermittently and having checked the wires into the switch it must be a faulty switch.

A quick search for an "arc 7800 16ax" doesn't bring anything up so I was wondering what alternatives might be. The modular plate has a the step switch on and a blanking plate so I guess I could replace the whole thing but was hoping there might be a simpler solution.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Martin

Martin, if it was me, I would gentle prise the rocker part of the switch (in second photo 56.8 KB) off its pivots with a little flat bladed screw driver. Do this over a table and be gentle as there may be a small spring behind the rocker.
This rocker very basically pushes a contact down against another and over time can get slightly tarnished with a black arc film. A quick scratch off of this black soot with a knife blade or small piece of wet/dry sand paper will clean these contacts. Reassemble and you may save yourself further issues. Good luck.

.........or I always have a electrical contact spray in the workshop (screw fix or the like) Just a quick blast into the assembled but disconnected switch, let it dry and then see. Simples.
