Extending period between cassette emptying. (1 Viewer)

We almost exclusively wildcamp and/or Aires.

Whilst we have two cassettes we sometimes find ourselves in areas with few black waste emptying facilities, e.g. parts of Greece, particularly out of season.

In those circumstances we use 'bucket and chuckit' for No.1s and reserve the cassettes for No.2s. We were both Boy Scouts(in Poland girls were also). We dispose in similar places that other animals use.

Are we alone in this habit?

Does this qualify as a 'Toilet' or 'Non-toilet thread'?

Nope. Just don’t use toilet roll. Organic matter decomposes (and is environmentally useful) within days/weeks dependent on temperature. The awful disgusting paper is alway what remains and is left fouling most beauty spots we visit.

No,you are not alone.
As in your scouting days,perfectly fine to dig a hole and bury it. Of course the difficult part might be finding a suitable place to dig e.g. the village cricket square ( do they have those in Greece) may not improve your relationship with the locals.

We have a mini bin to put the used loo roll in, got used to doing it in Greece, now do it all the time.

Yellow (black wet) waste is fine, good nitrate content, fertiliser away!

Never had a problem disposing of urine,do it just about anywhere……when you’ve gotta go,you’ve gotta go! Your suggestion re bucket and chuckit is sound.

In Thailand they have the BUM Gun , the Romans used Sponges ,,,,,Mnay cultures use one hand for eating and the other for crapping ,,, or large green leaves

Easypeasy, can you reach the bathroom sink, do a dangle and leave the grey tap open. If wilding, then it can followed by a flush of fresh and the exit is diluted.

Recently started using a Lenor bottle for wees. Perfect design and lovely smell. I've also started using a spray bottle rather than the flush built into the toilet. Uses way less water to clean. Don't have room for a 2md cassette

As in Spain used paper goes in a bin lined with a carrier bag which is thrown away in a household waste bin.

We carry a second cassette and all the paper goes in a nappy bag in a lidded bin.
Good idea tho for the wee!

I never put toilet paper in the cassette. I always put the used toilet roll in a nappy sack and immediately tie the handle. It then gets disposed off with ordinary rubbish.

I cant see any that are used to picking up after their dogs, having a problem in sorting their own waste in a similar fashion.
NB: love dogs, they seem to like me, but thats one main reason I don't own one

We use a 1 litre high pressure hand pump spray, the type used for gardening, £2 or so from poundland or similar.Drop of bio washing liquid in in and rather than use the loo flush we use the spray. Its like a jet wash. It's a bit harder to shake out the cassette but does extend the time between emptying.

And maybe use one of those liquid cleaner spray bottles to get a pressure boost and good coverage. But it might be difficult to get the right angle for application.
