Looking To Buy
We’re seriously thinking about this camper but the leaking skylight and damage to the side is putting us off, what do you think?

<Broken link removed>

My worry is if the skylight lets water in maybe the floor is rotten or the roof?

And the side damage?

The ceiling around the skylight isn't stained so I doubt there is much damage.

I would cut out and fit a larger helki if worried.

The damage to side us just cosmetic I think just cover it with a sticker!

So from what you can see you wouldn’t say the damage would cause any leaks? I thought it looked like it had Pierced the skin if you see what I mean.

For the price ,it's fixable and it's not going to cost a lot in real terms except your time..
Just needs a good clean up and cosmetic updating. For 5 k if it lasts a couple of years it's cheap motorhoming.

I would definitely get the reg'n number and look up its MOT history here:

From the advert it appears this is a petrol engined version. Is it compatable with the new E10 petrol if not you may need to consider if it is right for you.

I know prices are strong at the minute but it's overpriced with those faults, they won't be minor faults either or the seller would have corrected them. Without the faults it might be worth the asking price. 👍

Edit: IMO 😏

Well, I know engines very well and I’m not worried about the E10 petrol, the extra ethanol will degrade orings and pipes a bit faster it will take some time. I would replace the lines anyway and when the time comes I would rebuild the carb with E10 compatible parts.

I think the E10 Scare mongering by the media is why so many petrol ones are for sale lol.

Thanks Richard, me being me I wouldn’t pay that price I would defiantly be haggling anyway, I do agree with you on the faults that was my thinking but then I was also thinking they might be selling it due to the E10 petrol scare mongering as well?

Perhaps it has I couldn't see. A in person visit should affirm if it has or not. Doing a quality repair on that surface will be tricky

That coud still be intact...just. Offer 4- 4.5k and silka another dibond panel over it if concerned.
Take a damp meter with you

From the discription the seller sounds like an honest person.
Providing there no serious damp could be a good buy with a bit haggling.
With such a low mileage has spent a lot of its life sitting around. You need to have a good poke around under the chassis those models are a bit famed for rust and if serious could cost a few grand to repair properly.

If your handy just buy it, ask him his bottom line, let’s be honest, drive it and have 6 months away in it and you’ve got your money back, not quite sure what people expect for £5k:wasntme:

My only comment is that being a petrol engine (possibly 2ltr). If so I had a similar vintage Kontiki (short wheel base) on a fiat and it was woefully under powered.
Did not even have enough umpf to break through lorry bowwaves when trying to overtake... Usually had to drop back and sit behind them at 55/60 mph
Just thought I would mention it.

I'm afraid my answer to you is

what do you expect for £5k ?
Haha and my answer to that is, about this… the engine and base I know about but the camper part I don’t so, just wanted opinions because £5k is out budget for a first camper and we don’t wanna buy one that we can’t use because it needs work we can’t afford.

I’ve just answered this above but we expect exactly this kind of thing, I just don’t have much knowledge on the camper part so wanted opinions.

Haha yeah that’s right well the carb on these engines can be tuned and you get a bit more power but to be honest we’ll be pottering around anyway hehe

Things like the roof light if it needs replacing depending on size just the part will be between £200 to £500.

Thanks, that’s alright we expect things like that and I should be able to fit it myself I’d of thought?

Oh man there’s so much choice at the moment haha so many of these ones about I wish I could see them all haha.

Definitely go and see it, roof sky light probably wants lifting cleaning off and revealing, damage to side may just be cosmetic!
Had you noticed the bowl in the washroom sink? May mean the sink is damaged too!
If it all checks out I would think it would be a good ‘starter’ van, would show you wether you would want to carry on with a camper!

I didn’t notice the sink actually thanks,
And yeah that’s right we enjoy camping and Caravaning so we want a cheap but usable camper to give that a go haha

This one has a reasonable MOT history and possibly fewer war wounds and leaks

Ahaaaa yes that’s also on our short list! We really like this one apart from the black walls but we can change those lol.
We actually like this more more I think to be fair, and it has the 2.5 engine which is the one I wanted originally.

I’d say that the walls in the link are blue, not black. It’s obviously had some cosmetic work carried out on the walls, cupboards, etc. I think the colour scheme looks far better in grey and blue. I’d go for the second one.

Yeah you’re right more of a dark blue haha they look different on a PC screen to a phone screen. Anyway, I agree
