Have just received two above, brand new batteries directly from the manufacturer via Tanya Batteries and we are now having an interesting discussion as follows.
Batteries should weigh 27 KG and do not ! One is only 60% charged (12.26). Both labels state 100 AH yet Excide website technical paper states 90 AH.
I asked for two batteries straight from the Manufacturer in the hope of getting two recently manufactured batteries but labels suggest one is older than the other.
Tanya offered to replace one battery but are of the view it will be OK and will to take up with Exide and come back to me.

Here is a question rather than an answer, the ET650 is a 650wh (watt/hours) battery that what the 650 but means but it also says 100ah as in amps/hour so how does that work as 650/12=54,

Comparing it to my favourite EXIDE G80 or ES900 as in 80ah and 900wh Gel 900/12=75 so the Gel has a lot more watts in it than the ET, is this Peukerts law saying that you can only get the 100ah performance from the ET650 is you discharge over 100 hours or more, I think the label will refer to the 20 hr rate.

Or do I need to get out more.

That's an interesting question Martin ! According to the Technical Specification below, (2nd last page) its both LOL !
Cant see it being only 54 AH if its rated at 500 Cycles @50% DOD.
Now been in touch directly with Exide and waiting for there response.

If you have the room wouldn't you have been better served by using a pair of Trojan T105 ?

Now established after closer inspection one was manufactured in 2017 and the other has no date or code on it at all.

Doesn’t sound like a matched pair to me.

LOL It's a minefield Martin. I specifically requested new batteries from the manufacturer, from Tanya, who agreed to comply. One is dated 2017 & I'm convinced the other one is much older as indicated by low voltage and different label and I suspect I don't have a leg to stand on as their is no legal requirement on either party to supply batteries manufactured within a certain period. I suspect both batteries were held in stock by the manufacturer and so Tanya has fulfilled it's part of the contract. They have said no battery should be received lower than 12.4 V, so there wont be an issue replacing one of them but I now suspect there is no more available otherwise I would have received more recently manufactured batteries as requested. I still have the upper hand in this discussion though as the weight and AH specification is not as advertised by the manufacturer. I'll keep you posted. Just goes to show I guess, most guys would have just stuck them in and put them on charge not being any the wiser.

Update! I have asked Tanya batteries to replace with a matched pair manufactured in 2018 and to collect these two I received this morning.
I'm guessing but my gut feeling is there going to come back to me and say no 2018 batteries available. We shall see.

I take it that your charger can't handle Gel batteries Philip, if it can I would say put some proper batteries in(y)

Don't think I would want it delivered at 12.26v.

Neither would I. :(

I know that you responded @PhilandMena, but we have managed with 2 x 6v T105s, in the same battery space as 1 x Elecsol 220Ah, and using the same onboard charger, albeit assisted by solar charging. In 30 x years of camping, I have to say that the T105s are the best batteries we've ever had. (y)

Cheers,

Jock. :)

I'm restricted to no more than 350x175x190 mm for each battery. Also, my Sargent system/charger, cab battery and Solar Panel are set up for Lead Acid. Thanks anyhow.

Slightly off at a tangent. If a built in charger is not up to the increase in battery bank how do they charge it up . Do they use like a ctek charger independent of the other charger.

Off the top of my head I would think the options are a bigger capacity charger upgrade (if available) of the same type already fitted. Or just isolate the charger and install something like a CTek. They are the bees knees and can work directly from 240 volt socket when on hook up or hard wired into the system.

Any luck yet Phil with getting a pair of new batteries out of then?
Your choice looks like a good one they look like they have been designed as a proper equipment battery, no CCA rating stated is a good sign.
As for the discrepancy of a/h I have noticed that before with Tayna, probably manufacturer changes the spec but Tayna's website has not been updated.
More importantly an Exide 90a/h will probably out perform lesser 110/120a/h batteries.

I phoned Exide customer services in the UK Lenny, had a long conversation and it cost me £13.00 on my mobile (lol). Anyway, He told me they had several of these batteries in stock from a few days old up to 3 months. He also said the 12.26 V battery was not fit for purpose and should be rejected. WE both agreed Tanya pulled one over me by sending one new one and one they had been holding in stock for a very long time. This explains the old style label and the low Voltage. Both batteries have now been returned to Tanya and I await a full refund. When I told him about the AH rating he stated it was 100 AH but then he checked the technical spec and agreed there was an anomaly and something was wrong. He said he would take the matter up internally and I have not heard from them since. Tanya denied they had sent an old battery from stock but the guy I spoke to said we have none in stock and these were sent directly from the manufacturer but prior to placing the order I was told they were holding one in stock. So they have been found out on this occasion. I still want these batteries and will try again towards the end of the year.

Have you tried Battery Megastore? - I have dealt with them twice buying pairs of batteries and they have supplied what I wanted with both having exactly the same labels, markings etc. I also found them more competitive than Tanya when I was buying!

Battery Megastore are also on Ebay.

Here is a question rather than an answer, the ET650 is a 650wh (watt/hours) battery that what the 650 but means but it also says 100ah as in amps/hour so how does that work as 650/12=54,
Martin

The numbers suggest, 100Ah is the total capacity and you can use 54Ah.

I asked Exide about this figure and was told it has to do with testing criteria and not capacity. Kinda makes sense when you see the weight of the battery a big chunk of lead at 27 Kilo though only 26.10 when I weighed them. Still a big lump of lead.
