I think I have a 2012 Fiat Ducato 2012 150 Multijet 2.3D. I have checked on the Fiatforum ePer site and my Vin number is not recognised, Another site says:
Manufacturer: Fiat
Model Ducato
Body type MPV
Fuel type Diesel
Engine capacity [ccm] 2300
Country of manufacturer Italy
Version LEV. 1 - HEAVY
Series 2511
Car classification vans

but some spares sites give totally different models, Amazon for example lists these models:
Which mean very little to me except I suspect it will be a Platform/Chassis
But already I have been supplied the wrong Pollen Filter and it is too long since I bought it to return it so £13 down the drain.
Anybody know how to find out?

Lift bonnet, there will be a Fiat plate. Look for the engine code

Engine code will be meaningless in identifying the actual chassis model.
I agree, but VIN plate will help to obtain any service parts.
I seem to recall my manual (in MH not here) has the various chassis platform codes

Yes, I suppose.
We have a Peugeot dealer in town but no Fiat dealer so I went there for a sump bung washer.

VIN number Sir.

Won't do you any good, it's a Fiat.

In that case Sir, can't help.

Don't be f+++ing daft, it's the same sump bung.

Maybe, but the computer can't tell me which parts bin it's kept in.

Slapped the old one on the counter and said....
Look, just give me a f+++ing sump bung washer LIKE that and I'll take my chances.

No idea what it would have fitted but no oil leaked out.

Computerisation.... Bo//ox.

Depends what parts you want, but the platform option is the one

Towards the lower section of your Fiat VIN plate there should be the word VERSIONE followed by a series of characters similar to 250BCMFB BX. What does yours say?

But it won't be the same plug/washer as the Pug is Ford and the Fiat is Iveco although I sympathize with parts people not knowing their trade. I went into a multi part supplier for a standard 21in wiper blade and the youth said he couldn't find it without a reg no, I said its the one on the rack behind you with Bosch 21in written on it, he wasn't convinced.

Doubtful on a 1999 model, and it fit without leaking. Had I gone to a motor factor's they would have opened a plastic tray, had a look and matched one.
The dealer was closer.
Lesson learnt.
As a 16 year old I worked in the local vauxhall garage parts store, we had paper parts catalogues and a filing system.
I didn't need the filing system, and quite often the books, to know where everyday items... Filters, washers, plugs, dizzy caps etc... where kept, I knew which parts bin they were in.
Today, if the computers crash the parts dept closes
