Eurovision

It’s a colourful spectacle and lots of people enjoy it. It makes me laugh anyway. :giggle:

I would have put the UK bottom three, Graham Norton makes it though as a replacement for the great Terry Wogan and any lesser presenter would not crack it. Maybe it is time the UK reinvented itself, lots of countries have changed their names, perhaps it is time... now let me think?
Italy song was marmite, obviously popular with a lot of people or is it the facebook generation revolting against the establishment. Good for a laugh anyway.

Wow that French girl was awesome.
After having read some posts on here, I'm very grateful that you saw what we, French, saw in Barbara Pravi.
Suddenly our "Little Sparrow" Edith Piaf , well the spirit of her, was back.
A tiny young lady, all in black (with whatever you could think... clothes on.. and not more skin to be seen than material) made the souvenir of Piaf palpable.
Voilà voilà voilà sounded like an echo to Paname Paname Paname (Paname if slang for Paris, pronounced in Piaf's song : Padam)
The body language, her hands gave to the French goose pimples. But of course I don't expect people who don't speak French to actually understand this.

Although I do think that a lot of votes are geo-political (but indeed like every year) I think Barbara and Switzerland's singer gave the public a brilliant performance. Now , of course we all have different tastes, but personnaly, I just say "I didn't like, not my cuppa , instead of "Rubbish"

If you feel like it... listen

Très amicalement
Frankie

Come on people, don’t make it political……..it’s a laugh. 🤷‍♂️
It’s not political in the political sense. It’s socially political...........and it’s boll*x in my view. Time we accepted that it has descended so low we should guard our dignity as a nation and bale out.

I don’t watch it as such. I’m usually planning routes or researching places to go / stay.

But if people are having a laugh and enjoying themselves, that’s fine with me.

After the year we’ve just had I thought people would be up for a laugh…….I’m finding it quite the opposite with most things.:(

I always enjoy it but really miss Wogans comical cutting comments.Could not understand how the voting worked this year,Not a single public vote for Germany, Spain or UK..Not the best songs but definitely not the worst.BUSBY.

Popular show, regardless of the result, or how badly the UK does... or how much the BBC hypes the "contest"
So on that basis, probably a good investment. More expensive than quiz shows, less expensive than drama.

SNP official tells Europe 'Scotland hates the UK too' after Eurovision entry flops

Rhiannon Spear, an SNP office bearer and convener of Glasgow Council's education committee, eventually apologises after backlash

Frankly, after Brexit, we should no longer enter as it's not a singing competition any more and has not been for years. Its an EU political joke and we get humiliated every year regardless of whether our entry is any good or not!

No point wasting talented UK artists’ time and talent on it any longer…or whatever funds are contributed, for that matter. We should pull out and hold our own, fair, competition.
