My Human just went to fill out our API on Eurotunnel and the question has arisen, does my Pet Passport information need to be entered, I know it asks how many persons, and my Human could take that literally, but just want to check if it is just Human traveller's info they want or I am I classed as a "person" too..?

Cheers
Bannock

Getting better month by month.
Unfortunately Bannock, in this instance you are not a person. Your human entered carrying a dog, that is all api need. The ticket will not allow him to return to the uk without going through pet passport as he will have to display a sticker on his windscreen stating that. Enjoy your trip. :D2:D2

Bannock, you'll need to get your human to take you to the vet before you come home... don't worry its just for a tablet - nothing nasty! :D

Our dog has been travelling, on the Tunnel, four times a year for the last twelve years.

She just accepts it but HATES the worming tablets necessary for the Pet Passport.

She spits them out so the Vet pushes them down her throat while she struggles. (Too much of a lady to bite).

I offer to do it but am told that that he, (the Vet), must do it.

The one plus is that the total cost at our local Vet is 11 euros.

11 euros is the cheapest I've heard of - do you take your own tablet?

Thanks

I always hand over our dog's passport when crossing as you see the look of disgust on the face of the customs bods. Simple things :)

No.

That includes the tablet. The money goes straight into the cash drawer, no receipt. The Passport is correctly filled in and stamped.

We have used them for the last 12 years without problems. The only time we have had to use a Vet near Calais, (Honfleur, about four years ago), the same treatment cost me 53 euros!

Bannock, if you are really, really lucky and 'pretend' you aren't going to take the tablet at the vet's you might, just might, get it with a treat wrapped round it ... of course the alternatives are that you'll get it rammed down your throat or, horror of horrors, end up with an injection instead!

They don’t have much sense of humour, do they, but then I suppose that goes with the job.

Hi @maison , We use the chew able pill from vets ,made by Milbemax ,our dog gobbles it down ,didn't like the normal Milbemax pill always spit it out & vets struggles to get her to take it.

I offer to do it but am told that that he, (the Vet), must do it.

Our Vet is in Buxy, in Burgundy, so a bit off route for most people.

The address is

Pierre Verjux
Rue Haut de la Gare
Buxy 71390

No Aire in Buxy but an Aire in St Gengoux le National, about 13k away.

We use him as our French base is only 8k away.

Sorry !!!!! should read La Mailleraye sur Seine not Loire
lovely aire river side watching lots of interesting shipping pass by less than 100yards from your pitch. very safe ,nice village with boulangerie opposite the vets
La Mailleraye-sur-Seine.

€15 (38 kg dog) + the cost of tablet (€6 for small dog) (Sept 2012)
If you want to use the service it would be best to phone first as the Vet is
not in attendance full time but a Receptionist is there during Office hours
and Saturday morning.
Receptionist's English is basic but Vet is fluent.
Parking is possible outside but not really necessary
due to the very close proximity to the Aire.

It was 15 euros in January this year, we took our own tablets (y), there was a sign on the Vet's window saying it was 15 euros

@Minxy Girl - you gave details of an pill supplier earlier this year and I do not want to leave a search history of drugs and your name because the wife ... Anyway could you repost details as I am sure there would be a load of people who would go fore-pilled this summer :)

Yes, I think they've spotted it as a bit of good business, particularly with the aire being just down the road. I emailed for an appointment a couple of days in advance. Told them what time I would like and they got straight back to me.
The other advantage of going there is that, unlike some more expensive vets, they know what is needed and don't perform the unrequired 'full examination.'
We'd definitely use them again, even if not staying at the aire. Parking in the village is dead easy, which is important for us as our dog can't walk very far and is much too heavy to carry!

Yes I suppose 'Minxy Girl' and 'pills' can have 'naughty' connotations!!!

I've just ordered some from PetDrugsOnLine: https://www.petdrugsonline.co.uk/

As I also wanted a prescription filling for Romy too this with the wormers was the cheapest option and I got free delivery too so make sure you account for that when buying, or get some other bits you need to make the value up.

I just did a search on the web for 'Drontal chewy bone wormer' and got lots of options but CHECK the cost of deliver as it can vary a lot.
