I have just ordered a new Motorhome from the show and the dealer is asking me now the following. Do I want alloy wheels and flush fitting windows what is the benefits if any.

Don't get alloy wheels, they are weaker than steel and after a few years you have to keep pumping them up as they corrode around the tyre beed. Steel wheels always look great because they are behind the trim... And steel IS an alloy anyway ?

Thank you both for the advice what about flush fitting windows?

Alloy wheels are a lot of money that does the same job as steel wheels. I always think that what they push means that they are earning the most from.

You probably need to give a bit more info such as make and model of van.

My guess is this is just a cosmetic option like alloy wheels and can be ignored. When you are inside the MH who cares what the windows look like from outside? :)

If your payload is tight, there is a weight saving by having alloys

Both look like expensive extras for the dealer to make more money.
Read through these 'Fun' threads to see which 'extras' may benefit you more, depending on how you wish to use your van.
A Solar panel can save you real money if you do not have to pay for electricity, which can be expensive in some places.
If you have re-fillable gas bottles you will not have to struggle changing them and in other countries the British bottles cannot be changed or re-filled and the Autogas is cheaper.
These two items could cost about the same as alloy wheels and flush windows which are cosmetic and save you very little.

No advantage in any any amount of extras. Keep it standard.

alloys came as standard, they really look great which I thought was the main reason for having them.

Our first van we had alloys not bothered since.
If the alloys are plain coloured black or grey fine but the machine finished ones with the bright alloy facing are very problematical. Once the lacquer gets chiped they corrode badly. Not suitible for UK use as they salt our roads in the winter.

Never head of flush windows as an option normally standard these days.

Ask the dealer what the benefits of having those extras fitted.
I would have the alloy wheels as I think they look nicer than steel ones, and wheel trims on steel wheels can restrict airflow over brakes to keep them cooler when you really need them.

As much solar as possible, and 2 good batteries, and LPG refillables.

Or is it a case that he has sourced your van from the supplier and the build has alloy wheels fitted along with flush fitting windows. The salesman cannot charge you for them as they are already already fitted so he takes the knock. If you agree to the upgrade more money for him. If you decline the extras is it a case of waiting longer for a build allocation of the production line. Just call me a cynic
