I'm considering a remap for our Fiat Ducato 130, using a Quantum remap, as we are now going to be towing a tralier and would like more power. We weren't originally when we purchased the PVC.

Has anybody had any experience of having their Fiat remapped? What were the outcomes? I'm aware of warranty issues.

Thanks for any input.

Mick

We had it done, and we had it put back because although it pulled like a train, you could make the clutch slip, that was at 5000 miles, and sold it at 56000 miles no problem, but would have been had I left it.
Bob.

Google our name and clutch slip you should find it.

I had my 3.0 litre Fiat remapped by Quantum probably 6 years ago, I haven’t had any clutch issues at 52,000 miles but I have taken the precaution of changing down to an appropriate gear when climbing long inclines because I think it would be possible to put too much pressure on the clutch because there is so much more power available.

The remap certainly makes driving more relaxing with less gear changing when not tackling steep roads. Driving ‘as before’ does result in slight economies but if you do put your foot down more obviously you will increase your consumption.

You can discuss with Quantum what kind of remap you want, I did not go for the most powerful one.

I thought the 130 and the 150 engines were the same?

Performance modification = insurance notification (generally compulsory requirement) = possible premium increase.

Had my 3.0 remapped by Quantum tuning, I did change the clutch and dual mass flywheel before it was remapped because the clutch was slipping at 17000 miles, useless previous owner.... I've not had a problem in 30000 miles.
I can't really tell a difference in power or torque even though it is supposed to be 205hp now.. probably because the 3.0 is brilliant as a 160hp anyway. I think it is slightly better on fuel though.

That was my experience, I had it done because we towed a trailer, but probably didn't need it, because we are only 3500kg, and you don't get true figures without being on a rolling road, they just read it and re write it. :D2 Bob

Ps I'm glad we had it put back before we sold up and took our possessions down to Spain.

We had a Steinbauer Power Module ( not sure of its proper description) fitted by SAPs. It gives extra torque as required and it is removable if required. We have a 2.3 180bhp Fiat and it was pathetic every time it saw a hill. It is now a pleasure to drive.

I had my Rapido done by Quantum
3 litre V6 auto, very pleased with fuel consumption averages about 27 mpg
Which is an improvement .

What are you up ntending to tow?

We have a 130 Ducato 2.3 PVC and tow an Erdé trailer with a motor scooter on it. There is no appreciable difference on general performance and only a slight reduction in mpg.

Depending on what you need to tow you may be able to save yourself the money and hassle associated with a remap.

Our trailer complete with two Harleys, which weigh in at 275kg each plus assorted odds and ends. Probably gross weight of about 1000kgs. We're going to load up and take a test drive before any decision is made, so your comments were useful, thanks.

RV never had any problems with it, then it was 6.8ltr, V10!

OK.

Now I understand!

Much heavier than our load........but I envy you!;)

I had my 3.0ltr remapped by Peugeot under warranty due to judder in reverse. So now 180Hp and I tow 2,000kg trailer still on same clutch 85,000 miles later. However I am cautious of clutch being "a consumable".

Get 22MPG....
