I think you'll find a lost of similar threads and many varied answers if you use the 'Search' facility in the top right hand corner and search for "limp mode" or "strange power loss."

I had a similar problem last year whilst heading south to the Tunnel! In the end the problem was constant and even though the RAC attempted a fix having used a scanner, I had to head home on a low loader ☹️ When my mechanic took it in to sort it was the DPF injector that was shorting out and kept blowing the fuse. Van has been fine ever since this was replaced and nothing like as expensive as replacing the DPF!!
Mine is a manual Peugeot so no idea if yours could be the same issue.
Hope yours is a cheap fix.

no amount of guesses by any of us is going to give the right answer ( other than a lucky guess, and then you wont know until you try a fix. ) you need it scanned and go from there. the fault code should be stored in the ecu even though it is an intermittent problem.

Get yourself an obd2 scanner ( they are reasonably cheap)and when the light comes on next time check the fault with the scanner, could be a faulty Oxygen sensor or similar that can be sorted out pdq and cheaply.

As others have said, could be lots of things.
On my previous MH, same engine, it was a well known fault in the injector harness. Has it had the later harness fitted?
