Yes - another toilet thread! Enjoy :giggle:.

I'm toying with the idea of a MH with a macerator and large black waste tank. Just how difficult is it to find places to empty the tank both on and off campsites, UK and abroad?

Works OK as long as you can get your van close enough so the hose will reach. Many CLs etc have disposal points behind a a hedge or in a place you cannot get near with the van. You will then need a container you can decant into and then empty out. Basically if you are not on a large campsite you are still effectively emptying a cassette.

Good question, we are pretty new to black tanks but have managed OK so far (y) we went to Stratford racecourse and there is a proper place to dump that would need a short hose or good location driving over, we have been to Rutland water Lyndon top and there is a manhole that you can lift and need a few metres of hose, likewise Shrewsbury showground just lift a manhole, I don't imagine there will be a problem abroad on airs and stellplatz as they are more set up for this sort of dumping.

A lot of times in Europe you dont even need a dump hose let alone use a macerator pump . just drive over even with 12mtr RV . Then dump hose does most of the others . Only resorted to macerator pump once . With a decent sized black tank you aren't looking for disposal at every site you visit. JMHE

One would've thought that a Morelo owner would engage a man to attend to such unpleasant matters in the Palace.

I think you will find that most MORELO owners are pretty down to earth actually just get on with it like everybody else.

It was a pain in the arse. We generally had enough capacity (110 litres) for short trips to dump when we got home. However, UK & European campsites are rarely set up for it. They expect you to walk to the CDP and don't provide nearby parking, even within reach of a decent sized roll flat hose, which was itself a pain to stop pinching up and struggled to go round corners.

In uk I keep our C &CC membership solely because a number of sites let you dump your black. (My blog has a list and a map) for a small fee.

dont find it a problem in Europe, lots of places to dump with drive over grates

Might be worth googling where coaches dump their waste must be drive over dumps for them to discharge. The one at Disneyland paris they just drive over and bombs away

I've just bought one. First used last week whilvan

I bought one. First use last week. The van is in storage with zero chance of getting near dump point with the Rhino hose. I think its worth the outlay, not a problem on sites used in Europe

There used to be Dumping points on some UK Services for coaches. I used one once on the M6 (Sandbach??) might have been?. They where paid for BTW.? I think it cost me a tenner. but that was circa 2010. I had a "Jabsco" Macerator, on the last R-V, was good for up to 40ft on the level, using a 1" flat hose. On a couple of C-L`s, when I told the owner it was just a case of put the hose, "through the hedge into next field I`m ploughing it soon".

I've never had a problem with black tank waste. And with a macerator it is quite easy.

Got a 35L black tank and a macerator but never used it. A tank of that size last ages, so just empty when you can, not wait until you have to. :gum:

That`s not a Lot?, are you sure?. The Adventurer, (Avtar) had 50(US)gallon of each black and grey?. But I agree with that capacity emptying at your convenience (See what I did There:giggle:) is the way to go.

Picky, picky, I only work in proper measurements, it's more convenient, and what my poor old brain understands, but as you insist, the black tank is 42 US Gallons. :restmycase:

I have 75 or 95 litres on my RS (Can’t remember exactly). Lasts a long time. Because tank measuring can be iffy in black tank we operate in a person per day rule to be sure we don’t fill it. 14 person days is easily doable.

So we should be OK for a while with 250l or 55 gallons in old money.

To clarify the above post. The drive over grate is for black only or a combined black and grey dump?

Cheers

Or a tote tank if you dont want to move .

On my fiver one 47 gallon black 2 x47 gallon grey one 47 gallon fresh , all US gallons though.

Never had an issue with black tank emptying. My last 4 motorhomes have had them. Would never entertain a motorhome with a "chocolate box" too much messing around. We can last a week without emptying, so cuts out the daily walk to empty.

I am looking to create an online map with black tank emptying points flat to the ground for easy emptying in the UK. The C and CC publish a list for members and you pay a small fee and can use all the facilities for a few hours.

It would be good to know of other places where it is easy to drive over and empty the black. Never really a problem in Europe but in the UK harder to find so if anyone knows of any then let me know and I will publish on a map.

Never had a problem in the uk or on the continent.
However we have extended the pitiful 1m hose to a 12 metre hose.

When we went on our only trip away to Poole before lockdown I asked at the site if the drive over was for black also and was told no only grey.
The black dump was around the back of the toilet block and I would need to have pumped it.
Only had about 25% in so waited until I got home.

I would have assumed that a drive over waste point was for both black and grey or was there a big sign that said "grey only", I bet it all went to the same sewer.
