I would like to fit an electrically operated dump valve on my waste. I think the pipe is 27mm OD.

Does anyone know where I may be able to obtain a suitable valve.

Reason: Bit immobile! Nothing sinister.

Thanks

Tony

The ball valve ones are easy to find at sensible prices but the end fittings are not quite so easy to make fit.
I found screw in nylon hose fittings and had to turn them down to be able to fit the convoluted 28mm drain hose or glue on the grey rigid pipe.

I fitted a motorised ball valve to our grey waste last week similar to the one Lenny linked too and operate it with a single channel remote controlled relay.
I bought the fitting to connect the motorised ball valve to the convoluted pipe and the original tap from the Plastic Pipe Shop

have a look at this thread.

Yes Lenny HB has supplied a link one thing I might add is never did use it  waste of time fitting really along with the camera.
I found it great but I didn't have any other way of emptying. This van hasn't got one and it nerds super human strength to open the valve, so it will be getting one.

Ooh! not sure I share your view Dave

my mate daveclare has fitted a camera and it help him enormously when going over waste drains
Can't remember the last time I went over a waste drain to be honest hence not using camera and motorised valve.

Lenny I disconnected the manual valve open and close handle under the floor at the hab door but found I left the motorised valve open all the time as I also fitted a manual ball valve at the outlet end and found I just used this all the time.

The Carthago one is stupid I think the rod must twist in use, only had the van a few days and only used it once that's enough.

Yep ! Totally agree with that.

I am operating the valve using an adjustable spanner on the flat sided end of the rod where it joins under the water / waste tank hatch in the hab floor.

The Carthago supplied plastic handle just falls off. It’s too stiff as there seem to be so many joints along the route to the valve.

An electrical dump valve is also on my list.

That’s great Lenny HB I’ll order my bits we can fit them both at Lyndon top😉👍🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Do any of these electronic valves have a good IP rating? My tank is external and not in a double floor. The gate valve is opened with a Bowden cable (a sheathed bike brake type cable), which pulls the piston fine. But pushing it closed again, the cable buckles, so the valve doesn't fully seal.

This is what I have on mine

I did this a different way , I got one of these off eBay and fitted it in the waste pipe , wired it to a switch in the cab so all we have to do now is draw over whatever you are emptying into and switch it on , it empties in a fraction of the time it used to take and don't even have to get out.
Edit if anyone is interested in this method, there are cheaper pumps than this one but it was the first one that came up when I looked.
And btw when fitting I took the pipe higher than the top of the tank in a sort of u bend so it doesn't leak when the pump is off and can be left open all the time so it doesn't need the tap although I have left it on.

I have similar. I just 3d printed a screwed connection with an external diameter big enough to screw into the fitting and an internal diameter small enough for the existing waste pipe to slide into. Sikka flex for 'sealing' the connections works perfectly.

Running the cable from the dash to the valve took a while though. I could have routed it under the van, which would have been quicker!

I wonder if that could be used for a standard WC cassette ......or even adding a black tank ... No doubt an absolute waste of time to even think about it, but it's better than gardening and as I am lay in the sun at Lake Garda so not a bad use of time ..

Not had time didn't get home with the van until Thursday afternoon, now down at Lydd for a family party then tonight daughter coming back from Thailand for a holiday.

A bit of a pain I want to get the van sorted out, I picked up 3k worth on electrics on the way home.

Yeah well this pump is well over speced for just grey water but it's better than having to unblock a lesser pump and I suppose it would work with a cassette but it would have to be drilled out and that but must say this pump has been on about three years now and never been a bit of trouble.
