Ebike on the back of MH

If you carry your ebike in the back how do you keep it dry? Do you remove battery for travel? Any advice or tips?
I usually carry mine on the towball carrier but only when dry, taking it on the MH it could be there for a while and all weathers
 
I carry 2 on the Thule tow ball carrier, no batteries, then they are under the max load. We have a waterproof cover from tailor-made, it keeps them nice and dry.

We take the battery off for security and have a rubbish fiamma bike cover over it. The bike cover is even worse than the Thule bike carrier!

Just put ours back on rack this afternoon before the rain came in good style. I use a motorbike cover and then on top of that I put a 3 bike size Fiama cover with the reflective square on it for safety and this tends to do the trick strapped on with self locking straps.

We take the battery off for security and have a rubbish fiamma bike cover over it. The bike cover is even worse than the Thule bike carrier!
You sell it sooooo well, I want one ?
 
We used a hinndermann bike cover only one we found that covered 2 large ebikes on the towbar. Good quality, still using had for about 4 years now.
 
Personally I remove the batteries on ours. Lock to the rack then Cover with A Fiamma bike cover. Never had a problem.

Can't do anything technical, sorry. It is a Thule 2 bike tow ball fitted carrier, carrying weight of 46kg, the bikes with batteries are 23kg each, and without batteries 19.5kg. The tailor-made cover is from their factory in Yorkshire, a sturdy cover and totally waterproof with a pocket for the warning sign. Carrier was £250 ish and cover was £60.

Had a look on amazon, Fiamma don’t look great according to reviews, some motorcycle covers look good tho just not sure how they work with the carrier and how it connects

Normally get about three years out of a Fiamma cover before the elements rot them. They wrap around the bikes due to there shape. Tighten with attached bungee fixings.
 
I remove batteries, use several locks, turn the handle-bars so they are parallel to the frame (it only takes a few seconds with an Allen key), Mrs B has folding pedals, and all covered with lightweight fiamma cover.
It sounds fiddly but it all fits into a routine and I’m confident they are (relatively) safe and secure.

WE have the most expensive e bike cover going.
We had a Swift Kontiki 669 tag axle with bike rack on the back. Bikes got in real mess. How did we solve it................... Got a van with a garage.
Now have Carthago chic c line 4.9 with enormous garage for bikes. Only cost £50K to change to solve the problem. Bikes lovely and clean when used.

The reflective square is a legal requirement in most of Europe. There is also stipulation for which way the stripes run (left top to bottom right?) but that does vary according to which country you are in. Most bike rack covers come with a clear pocket to take it.

The Hinndermann cover was perfect for us - very much more robust than others. When the bikes were not on the rack whilst at campsites we used a plastic cover from Halfords which had an elasticated bottom - inexpensive and folded up into a small wallet provided.
 
I bought a Fiamma cover and a Hindermann cover, both designed for towbars, and neither seem to work very well. Fiamma is crap and not really big enough, and the Hindermann is actually too big. I'm worried wind will get under it and blow it off. How do people with these secure them properly? It's a "Universal Zwoo 2".
 
Travel with the batteries out as it is just extra weight bouncing around on the back of your van that you could do without.
We started off with a Fiamma bike cover which is lightweight and fairly easy to fit over the bikes but have recently bought a much superior and heavy duty Tailor-Made cover.
 
How do people with these secure them properly? It's a "Universal Zwoo 2".

Our is a Tailor-Made but I too had the same worry as our is a loose fit over the bikes, so I fitted tapaulin eye in each corner of the bottom of the cover and then use bungee cords diagonally from corner to corner under the rails of the bike rack to stop it lifting away.

Be honest now, has anyone who removes the batteries for travel ever left them at home so ended up with a push bike at their destination?

We carry our folding electric tricycle inside the garage. It fits better if I lift the saddle and support tube out ( very quick and easy) and the first time I very nearly left that at home.

Most of Europe? That's not my (limited) understanding. I believe Spain and Italy only. Anyone know different for sure?

This is what we do. Agree with those who denigrate the Fiamma covers. Expensive, misshapen and now slightly holey!
 
We put our 2 e-bikes on a Fiamma "Carry Bike" rack. 55kg max load.

Reinforced the top mounting points that are concealed inside the overhead cupboards with some 3mm stainless steel sheet offcuts 200mm x 30mm to spread the load.

Bikes weigh 22kg each, reduced by 2.3kg when you take the battery out. We also take out the seats and seat pillars and store these inside the MH. Handlebars are turned through 90° and locked in position (1 allan key) Bikes are mounted and secured then a cable combination lock threaded through frames and rack.

It is a heavier cover than the Fiamma which almost disintegrated after 4 years.
We stop it flapping by using 2 long bungees vertically & horizontally. The vertical one pulls the cover down sufficiently to allow the reversing camera a view over the top.
