How often should I get my 2008 Fiat Ducato based motorhome serviced please? I am used to car service books which normally say "every x,000 miles or one year, whichever is sooner". The service schedule on the Ducato just says every 45,000 kilometres, with no maximum time period. The only exception to that is changing the brake fluid and pollen filter which says "or every 2 years".

I have only done about 6,000 miles since last year's service, which included changing the timing belt. Do I need another one or can I leave it until next year?

We recommend annual servicing, if for no other reason than brakes need checking annually especially on low mileage vehicles as pads crumble and discs/drums rust and get pitted.

As Dave has stated and for the same reasons.

Hi just having our van serviced only done about 2k they recommend changing oil/filter every year and for the cost of that it keeps the engine in good condition(hopefully)

I get mine serviced every year. The first year was a "low mileage" service, oil and filter change and safety checks. Then at the two year point it had a major service - which was expensive!

Don't believe the service booklet. It is design to make the van cheap to run by fleet operators who are going to chuck the vehicle away after five to seven years use.

The Fiat service schedule is 45000k or 24 months though, they recommend an oil & filter change annually on low mileage vehicles.

and usually more than a quarter of a million miles without annual servicing unless mileage dictated it.

Service all my vehicles every 12 months at the same time I MOT them

At the very least it should have an inspection every 12 months. The MOT is not good enough to ensure it is in good condition only that it is roadworthy as far as they can see without dismantling anything.

As above, oil is cheap - engines are expensive

Sorry I should have said service and inspection. I very rarely get an advisory on my MOT's because of the inspection

Every 12 months.

We pay for a service plan, spreads the cost of the service and covers any work that might crop up throughout the year.
