hi all
A word of warning to anyone with a 2.3 ducato of around the 07 vintage that is lying idle over any possible freezing conditions
My mate jumped into his van the other morning after a freezing night to find that it wouldnt start -it spun over but would not fire up As a retired mechanic I went over to try to sort it out but the fault codes made no sense so rang a sparkie I knew , he knew straight away what it was -he had already had several with the problem
What happens is water runs down from the bulkhead and first of all shorts out no4 heater plug but worse still finds its way behind the cambelt cover collecting by crank pulley freezing overnight so when you try to start up the belt slips a tooth-if youre lucky its just a new cambelt kit and plugs(ÂŁ400!!!)-so best just cover up the top of engine
