Hi we have a 2020 Fiat Ducato (250) conversion and noted the fuel tank is 60 litres.
Does anyone know if it can be replaced with a larger capacity?
Thanks

This been covered before.. might however been April fools.... but apparently Ducatos are all fitted with 90 ltr tank but some gizmo on some restrict contents to 60ltrs... or was I dreaming???

Not saying it will make any difference but just to make sure is it definitely an X250 and not an X290 conversion? Thought the X250 was replaced around 2014 \ 15?

This has def a 60litre tank, states it in the brochure too and only provides a rough 360 miles!

Hi its has 250 starting the vin number - 2.3L with a comfort-matic.

Is it the ad blue version?

Think, at least some, X290s have a vin number that starts with ZFA250.

Generally the easy way to tell is the headlamps however, as I said, probably immaterial to your problem.

As mentioned above the actual tank moulding is likely to be 90 litres but it will be restricted (by extending downwards the fill vent tube) to 60 litres. You can check this by reading the embossed lettering on the underside of the tank where the capacity is clearly stated.

If it is in fact a restricted 90L tank then this German thread shows how to remove the restrictor:
Broken Link Removed

Don't expect the fuel computer to recognise the extra capacity though as 60L will be coded in the body computer and cannot be changed (except by ordering a new body computer).

OK ad blue is what is added to the fuel instead of a load of sensors and filters its got nothing to do with a gearbox

Eh wrong thread?

OP was asking about fuel tank capacity.

Is there any particular reason you don't want to stop ever 360 plus miles?
I think 300 miles between stops is plenty there always seems to be plenty of petrol stations throughout Europe
.

Coach built so different front lol, the vin is a ZFA250 number though

No the ad blue version has a smaller fuel tank as far as I know hence the question
Sorry. It was the gearbox comment that confused me.

It took me a while to understand it but that's fiat for you

Some convertors (e.g. Roller Team) put a different fill neck in the tank to limit the capacity to only 60 litres because the van is so close to the 3.5t limit.

Just looked at the Auto Trail web site. The current GF-70 is a 7m a-class that defaults to a 3.5t plate. It's mass in running order is 3280kg... I can see why they've limited the fuel tank size!

My old 754 Hymer had a 200 ltre tank fitted in Germany by the previous owner. To comply, he had the front suspension up rated at the same time. It used to save me a fortune when fuelling upin Luxembourg.

Saw one of them on a site late last year \ early this and with a sat dish on the roof, flag pole with lights up it, push-in floor pot lights, table + chairs, both driver and passenger built for comfort not speed, etc, etc, etc, .................
Would never have been under the optional 3,650kg never mind 3,500kg.

Yep you have to be tight on what goes in!

For me it has nothing to do with stopping but the ability to travel as far as possible without needing to refuel. It also allows the ability to fill at the cheapest place when you come across them.
Years ago I was looking at a merc 614 mh that had a 1000litre tank. I worked out I would be able to drive to North Devon and back twice without refilling :giggle:
