Marriage certificate? Why? The same surname is on his and her passports. Same home address. So why would they challenge it?

& the Uk is one of the few places where women take husbands surname on marrrying.+ you'd be amazed at the amount of border officials/police, civil servants in other countries that have no idea that that happens.

I don't think that's necessary. I had both British and Irish passports but didn't bother to renew the British on expiry. I solely travel on the Irish.

Lest hope that in a time of trouble the irish embassy will help you if you do not live in the country.* you cannot have too many passports.

Just spotted your feed, sadly my mother is no longer with us, so might be a one starter.

Still worth contacting them at the high commission in London.
I found out through them that once I have my citizenship. My wife can then apply for Maltese citizenship.
