We had an advic in our last van. We really didn’t like the satnav and found it very unreliable .

The Pioneer one came as standard in our 2019 Burstner. It's OK but I wouldn't pay £1100 for it. There are some brilliant Chinese one for around £350. Search Amazon or eBay

I would go with landy Andy I fitted a pioneer. Paid an extra £10 for the bezel and it fitted my fiat based motor home like the manufacturer had fitted it. I am a big believer in the old adage 'buy cheap buy twice' so I did pay the £1100 for the Pioneer but for that I got Europe wide Motorhome sat nav with with 3 years map upgrades and the unit took both rear view and front facing cameras properly plumned in. On top of that the quality of the dab radio is fantastic, I have come across cheap units where the dab button is no more than a decoration. The unit supports both Google a Apple I am running Android and the interface is stunning. Dynamic Sounds where not only offering the best prices the sales dept was knowledgeable and very helpful.

We fitted this Pioneer Apple Car play without sat nav, as we can plug in the I Phone using google maps. We also stream Deezer or TV channels through the head unit, and the sound comes alive!. We also upgraded the door speakers to a component system (seperate tweeters and mid/base drivers & Crossovers) upgraded the speaker cables, used sound deadening sheets in the doors etc. I then used the radios pre-outs to power separate Harmon Karden amps (stored in loft from prev car) sounds lovely now, may get under seat active sub speaker one day.
Plus we can play the TV through it, and plug in a flash drive for anything else.

Alpine and Kenwood are pretty good too. Kenwood uses Garmin for the navigation part, which is great.

How easy is it to update the maps on these devices? I use a Galaxy tablet into the radio via USB, on the popup clipboard, but have thought about the double din upgrade.
Thanks.

I have just fitted one of these.

I brought the DAB aerial adaptor as I already fitted a DAB aerial previously for the previous (pants) unit that failed during lockdown.

I needed an adaptor for the fitted aerial.
This set has all you will need (if you need it).

I brought the Connect2 facia. Instructiona are pants but it does the job. You have to cut the brackets that hold the upper storage bin but that's easy. You will have to cut this on X250 no matter what double din you buy.

The rear plug is not a n ISO connector but it comes with a lead which you can cut and join to any ISO lead. You might find a conversion lead but all the ones I found had pins missing where they were needed.

A little thread resurection - I have the AVIC-EVO1-DT2-C-GR in my new Burtsner. Quite happy with the functionality of it but not with the sound. I would like to put a small powered sub woofer on the floor below it.

Something like this - https://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/pr...5Gn7nG0qP0Xh65haxcdoNWjWvcjvcrNBoCggQQAvD_BwE

Two questions:

1. Is there a sub output on the back if the unit?

2. How do you remove the unit from the dash?

I've just fitted a Kenwood Car Audio KSC-SW11 unit. I went with that model as it was the lightest in weight and power consumption. It has made a huge improvement in the sound.

Have a look at my posts here.

I have a Sub output on my Zenec head unit but the Sub also works just as well by splicing into the speaker cables for an output to the sub.

Looks like your unit does have a RCA output for the Sub though - https://www.pioneer-car.eu/uk/products/avic-evo1-dt2-c-gr/specifications

The headunit comes out of the dash quite easily. Just pop the air vents out either side and then you can push the unit out from behind.

Be warned these cheap Chinese jobs are not exact Double DIN, I had to do a lot of fiddling about to get the unit to fit, eventually “glueing” it in with a hot melt gun and black glue sticks for cosmetic reasons. My son has a Volvo with a Sony CarPlay compliant unit as my Chinese job is. They both work admirably with my iPhone using Google Maps etc. but the son’s unit has DAB radio, mine is FM only. You pays your money and takes your pick.

Having just fitted one of these I’m really surprised by your comment. I was going to swap the door speaker, and possibly go sub too. But I won’t be changing anything now I’ve fitted the head unit. It’s brilliant so much better sound than the previous two. And they were good brands (pioneer, then kenwood).

If you want a powered sub and to amp the front speakers look at the Focal IBUS 2.1. It’s a sub and amp that powers the sub and also the speakers with a very clean/clever wiring loom. So one cable from head to unit, plus a power supply to unit.
If you want to go more traditional with amp/sub then all the connections you need are on the rear of the unit. To remove you must pry off the other edge, so where the two round knobs are. It’s a horrible job as it on the glass.
