Does anybody use their carpets?

NEver used ours in 3 vans and numerous caravans although we have sometimes used slip mats as these are cheap and can be disposed of if dirty

Washed mine last week at Shell Island not intentional but thanks to the doggy that had been deposited outside and not cleaned up. only once did it get in the van thank goodness for the biological washing liquid carried for the loo. but on the 3rd time I walked in it in different locations I was frustrated (P*ssed OFF) then to cap it all stopped on my way home taking the scenic route and some horrible sticky sweet of some sort again right by the door in the parking bay all over the pedals. Thank goodness for CORVID and huge supplies of antbactieral wipes
As for the carpets I do like having them down makes it warmer but as for a practical solution I as long it is one of the hotter days of the year the bike rack makes a good drying facility

We haven't had our fitted ones out the box, dont like them really as they are dark brown cord & feel stiff.
We did buy some carpet runners at a MH show, you can simply cut them with scissors to fit any shape, and are machine washable, but they did shed fibres when they were new, which needed hoovering to remove.
I must get round to fitting something in the cab & cut small pieces for the internal step, as any mud on your shoes shows up and looks twice as bad on the black matting.
We also have one of those thin rubber/close fibre mats (Dirt Magnet springs to mind) that catch any moisture or gravel from your shoes as you come inside the hab door area, it gets a regular shake, and can be machine washed apparently.
Slip on shoes are handy as they can be kicked off on entry.

Nope ..in all the motorhomes we've owned I clean them and wrap them up and put them in the loft.
Then buy a couple of cheap ones ...
One over the floor hatch.and one by the door .

So much easier to clean without them, just a quick sweep.then wet wipe.

Use a bath mat by the shower door.

Prob saves on a few kgs also.

I've always had mine down. Have a tiny loose mat to wipe feet on as I step in the door.

As I tend to walk around in the van in socks, or bare feet, carpet is much more comfortable than the harder floor. Even in the warmer months I find it irritating they left a really large circular cut out around the metal table floor mount, just where I like to put my foot when sitting that is much cooler.

Found the carpet is really good at mopping up all the stuff I spill on it like lancashire hot pot, ketchup, booze ......

you're admitting to funsters that you spilt your booze!!!!!! o_O

We always remove carpets and use rugs so we can wash them easily and replace as required. In our Carthago due to having a 'leaky' elderly dog we put in some pieces of vinyl cut to shape so that any 'leakage' didn't find its way into the floor lockers, with an odd rug on top to wipe feet on, however now that we've got a puppy we've put the vinyl back in again for similar reasons! :giggle:

No carpet. Shoes off at the door. If it's cold, we wear slippers.
If you think for one minute I'm gonna buy my dogs shoes to take off at the door and also slippers too you are very much mistaken!

Carpets in Brunhilde look never to have been used, and they're gathering dust in the spare room. The stays to date have been on windy/damp sites [May & June in Scotland!] and, even wiping shoes carefully, the amount of dust, grit and dead leaves that get blown into the Van is astonishing. Controlled by using dustpan and brush and then a thorough hoover on return home. 'Just look at the muck' as Larry Grayson was wont to say; heaven knows what Fag Ash Lil and Vinegar Vera would have said ...

Never use them. It's much easier to give the mats a shake and the floor a sweep, without.

first job for me take out carpets buy some carpet samples £4/5 use them for 1 season then buy new ones

We use washable mats. Not much choice as the carpets we were supplied with look like the are for an Adria Twin LH Hab door model. ( Ours has the Hab dor on the left). Suppose I could use them upside down.

We must be mad then, standard supplied carpets plus pale cream rugs over the top. Cab has quality fitted mat in black.
If you don't take your shoes off you ain't coming in. simple as that. Slippers are available, same at home though, shoes off at the door strict rule.

Four Jarappas loose laid. Nice and colourful, toasty under foot in winter, easy to whip out and shake clean and machine or hand or under foot while you're in the shower washable and quick to dry hung out on a line. Only a couple of euros each so can replace the lot for less than €15.
