We really enjoy Rioja but John's elder son is not at all keen.

I love Rioja when I am drinking it in that region, but I don’t feel it travels very well.

That said I am a beer man so ignore me

Don’t like Rioja, much prefer newer wines especially terra alta or priorat.

Rioja rosé is nice, far better than French rosé.

Love Rioja Reserva or Grand Reserva.

However, before Covid, we were having cases of this shipped up to France regularly for us, golfing ex pats and French friends as well. The bigger Spanish supermarkets normally stock it. From the La Mancha region near Toledo.

I get mine at the local market - 2 year old red (local) for €1.80 per litre, served in a plasic 2 litre flagon (bottle)

Tastes great chilled or with ice, been supping it for 10 years +🍷👍😎

This thread reminded me that I had this 10 year old bottle tucked away from a bodega with a lovely hotel just outside Granada. What the Spanish call a "complex red" Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot blend. At 15%, it's like drinking velvet.

We have great wines in Tarragona.
The Priorat is special because of the licorella (fine slate) soil, wich gives a very distinctive flavour.
But I'm also too a beer man, like Chris, so ignore me also :ROFLMAO:

We have just sold our finca near Tortosa so I love the wines in the area and have noticed a huge increase in vines in the Terra Alta area

Living in the wine growing area of Murcia we very much prefer a wine that is produced locally..
We were cycling from a small village named Coy yesterday....having lunch in a local restaurant after we were served a locally produced Red of the Monastrell (Matero) grape variety....I must say this young (Joven) wine was a delight...went well with all courses...

A decent MALBEC for me!
