You’ve just fitted one to the Motorhome ?

My Alde heater has had issues, so I needed an off grid back up, this heater is so good for the money, I'm thinking of buying another one as a back up, crazy or what!

Which one...?
Does not make much difference !
They are all pretty much the same apart from:
What bits you jey in the kit
How much you pay !

I have fitted about 7 or 8 for folk now, all different suppliers and cases of different colours, but inside they are all the same :)
The one I fitted in our Chieftain is proly too too much.. We can only have it on for an hour from freezing cold to way too warm !

What about the stat John +- ? or is that a bit of hype.

Yes is the thermostat stat no good?
Ahh !
It is actually a bit of a mystery
Thermostat works fine BUT it will never shut the thing right off... Just reduces the heater to its lowest setting, which on the 8kW model is still a bit too high !
I do not know anyone else that has fitted a biggy so have never been able to compare notes

So, does this need a separate diesel tank or is it somehow hooked to the main tank?

I've fitted 2KW, 5KW and so called 8KW { same physical size as a 5KW heater }
MK47 on youtube has lots of videos on youtube about these heaters.

2KW small van / shed { as the 2KW are smaller they fit under cab seats }
5KW med to large Motorhome.

They are basically copies of the Eberspacher Heaters.
I have fitted one in My garden shed 8KW, Motorhome 5KW and worx Transit van 5KW.
I have fitted 2KW to Vauxhall Vivaro sized vans.

Some of the parts in the kit are a bit cheapo but jubilee clips can be upgraded.

The parts for Chinese Diesel heaters are also easy to buy and cheap on ebay.
Glowplug
exhaust
Temperature heat sensors etc

One of my (many) projects for the coming year is to build an outdoor kitchen/covered garden area and have been thinking about heating for the covered area.

Because of the design, blown air heating may be the better solution for part of the area.

Saved the link for future reference. (y)

There's a Webasto D2 in my son's work van. The LCD controller is starting to loose characters and when I checked underneath, the aluminium exhaust stub has corroded off (road salt !) Checked online and I can buy 5 Chinese heaters for what Webasto are charging for the spares I need !
The 5kw Chinese one in my garage is going well !

Our Frankia on a Mercedes chassis already had a diesel add heater (could be manually switched on to run, but only with the engine running).

I re-wired the Mercedes system and got a Mercedes dealer To re-program it to on-board canBus timer.

I fitted a heat exchanger into the alde system.

that way, we had heat from , the gas, ehu, engine, diesel heater or any combination subject to availability .

Information is just in case anyone has a Mercedes chassis with alde.

I might have a look at this as Aldi heating is NBG for sure

This is because when a diesel heater shuts off, it needs to burn off the glow plugs. This causes wear and lots of electricity usage (this is repeated again on start-up). This is why you should always get the smallest diesel heater that will work for the application, as it is important that the lowest setting is low enough.

You are preaching to the choir ! :)

Mine was the very first I did

How do you tap into the diesel tank? I'd be a bit nervous about drilling a hole in it.

It can be either. Diesel heaters have a simple suction pump that is pulsed under the control of the heater so the intake tube can be fed from whatever source you choose.

Hi guys any funster in somerset fit one for me I have heater, lots of beers on th end of it or be paid regards steve

You can buy a tap off kit

Tank kit
Jeez, that tap in kit is half the price of a heater ! If you were confident enough to unscrew the sender unit from your tank, you could fit one of these ?

Anyone have problems sleeping or being annoyed by the tick tick tick of the pump

Anyone have problems sleeping or being annoyed by the tick tick tick of the pump
As long as you don't fasten it to something that's likely to resonate a lot and if you can suspend it from a couple of cable ties and put a bit of bubble wrap around it, I don't think you will have much of a noise problem ?
With some of the self builds I've seen on YouTube, it's obvious they haven't read the instructions or done any research about proper installation, especially regarding the proper orientation of the pump to stop it wearing out prematurely.
