Dieppe newhaven - very slow customs at newhaven

Has anyone recently come back from Dieppe to newhaven? We are sat watching the boat unload and each vehicle is stopping for quite a few minutes - the last ones off aren’t going to be happy

We came off yesterday morning at 6am, every vehicle was thoroughly checked before boarding at Dieppe. We were 2nd last off at Newhaven and still cleared passport control and customs within 20 mins of docking, certain vehicles were being checked but we were waved through.

Tonight looks like every one is getting the works

You'd think at that time of the evening they'd want to get home. Looks like I might be home after midnight if they are still doing that in two and a half weeks time. Is the Foot & Mouth thing still an issue?

Quite often these things are intelligence led. Customs may have had specific information about the crossing.

We arrived home Tuesday afternoon 3pm, 3rd off boat and on the road home ten minutes later - no hold ups..
