Does anyone have deadlocks fitted (Fiat Ducato)? Great when leaving the van during the day, but what to do at night? All 4 can't be locked?

I utilise a strap for the cab doors, easily fitted and removed, but also room to still be able to drive if it ever came to that. Not sure if it would work for you, but worth mentioning.

On behalf of a 'Newbie' I recently drove a PVC for a test drive. I noticed that in each of the door
pockets there were chains that were attached to the door itself.

The presumption of that being that in order to secure the doors through the night or when
the van was unoccupied, the chains could be locked together with a padlock making the
opening of either of the doors impossible.

I have fitted internally operated HoeSafe deadlocks to the cab doors and a HeoSafe deadlock to our hab door that can be locked both externally and internally.
I have also fitted externally locked deadlocks to the cab doors.

Thanks. I'll definitely look into that. How difficult was it to fit the internal lock?

How were the chains attached? The new Ducato doesn't seem to allow that?

Careful with chain and lock - you might want to get out one day in a hurry....
Ratchet strap works and can be released with a quick pull.

The cab door locks are a ten minute job each side if you don't have Remis cab blinds, if you do have Remis blinds, then add half an hour a side to trim the blind casing around the locks.

We do this also. It gives full extra deadlocks to all entry doors, even when we are in it.

Oh, not another thing to worry about...

I have a standard PVC locking door setup. No extra locks, chains or straps but with the Van Bitz Growler and the external blue lights.

Has anyone been burgled/abducted/molested while they were in their vans?

In my PVC I had deadlocks on all doors. Locked them all except the sliding door one which I had a normal house chain on.

19 month year 18000 miles UK, Ireland, France, Spain, Germany, Italy. Campsites and off Grid.
That's what we do at the moment - but I'd rather they couldn't get as far as setting off the alarm...

Well, I'm not sure it's much of an issue anyway. I've never had anyone attempt to enter the van and we do mostly off grid.

Yes, me I lost my 4 Rolex watches and 6 24 carat gold rings after being gassed and burgled/abducted and molested. The molest was the best bit:giggle:
