I’m just about to order a new Data Sim normally use the 12GB,12 Month, Three, and they have always performed well throughout Europe, I have just put a 24GB Sim in my IPad but need another for my Bride, Amazon appears to offer the best still? Anyone know of better in 12GB or 24GB.

That is currently the best deal I can find.

Last year the price came down on Amazon just before Christmas - I paid circa £28. No idea if the same will happen this year?

It wasn't what you asked about but if you buy a MiFi you can both share the same sim card. :)
If you don't use much data these prepaid cards are good value, I've still got a 24Gb one tucked away as a reserve but I've gone over to Vodafone now. You can get 30 day rolling contracts but the best value is by signing up to a 12 month contract. I'm now on 50Gb a month for £25 though the first two months are free. But this particular contract only makes sense if you are a data spendthrift like me. :)
You can get much cheaper contracts with less data of course. :)

We use the 3 24gb in our mifi (which supports up to 10 devices) but abroad (at least in France, Italy and Greece) the bandwidth was so strangled, that it was virtually worthless.

It works great in the UK and I know it's supposed to work the same abroad, but believe me, it doesn't.
Only thing is to buy a local data sim in whichever country you're in. And that can be a pain in France and Italy.

So YOU too could benefit from a VODAFONE chip, other posters have said how good their data sims are, and I totally agree.

The MiFi doesn’t really work for us as our usage is often when we are apart from each other. Three, is great so I’ll go with the above again it’s just that I worried about getting a dodgy Sim and being £40 out of pocket as opposed to a 12GB at around £28,however, the24GB does offer great value so I’ll chance it.

Our current experience is that if used abroad you will be cut off once you hit 16gb therefore buying anything over that is a waste of time and money

So with 3 Mobile look to their 12gb SIM

EDIT...... you will be charged £69 from 12gb to 16gb then cut off

How can they charge you anything after you've bought the initial SIM? They do t have you card details, bank details etc. If you sign up and sign a direct debit etc, then maybe but not if you just buy a one-off SIM card?

Though nowadays there are no surcharges when you cross the water to France / Spain etc. We are looking for a reasonable cost Mifi for the two of us fro tours around europe to save the calls into Mucky Dee's etc

Remember that all 3 preloaded PAYG SIMs are limited in the amount of data you can use when out of the UK by their new "fair use" policy. @Minxy Girl is the expert on all this, but from memory you can only use 9Gb in a month, or is it per visit? All I know is that when we were in Spain/Portugal a couple of months ago we were cut off after using only 9Gb of a 12Gb SIM. Fortunately we had another SIM. But the old one came back to life once we returned to the UK.

So all in all it is probably better to buy 2 x 12Gb ones rather than 1 x 24GB one.

You can use all of the Vodafone data when in Europe. As I posted above, 50GB for £25.00 or 30GB for £20.00.

I’ve been using the Three 12GB 12Month Sim by choice for ages now and we both definitely use and abuse it in terms of usage all in the EU and have never been short changed, normally pay £27/£29 for 12GB, as already stated £39.99 for 24GB so equates to £19.99 for 12GB so even if we lost a bit it still offers value.

Since I’m buying again you can see I don’t Top it up,buy a new Sim and dispose of old one,no hidden costs or details handed over.

Thanks for the info on Vodafone but I don’t sign up for contracts! If I want to walk I walk.

Forgot to mention, EU Sims, there is nothing to compare to Three and they need your Passport, Dental Records,Blood Type :D

U cc cc.

Ooooops apologies, that was the Vodafone 50gb for £30 a month, again apologies I’m juggling too many cards. At the moment using NOS €1 per day for unlimited data, thirty days for €30 can top up at an ATM .......... we’re in Portugal

Understood! The Vodafone offer above is a 30 day rolling contract that you can opt out of by making a telephone call to their customer services people and giving 30 days notice. So, you can get 3 months full usage with no throttling back in all EU countries. At present, no other company can match this on a 30 day rolling contract.

This is something I need to take a closer look at, Many Thanks

We bought our 3 12 month sim from MyMemory in Jersey. A few pounds cheaper than Amazon. Currently £27.99.

Just an observation on this thread.... We have been in Spain for about four weeks now and using Three in the mifi and Vodafone in my phone.

I always got a good fast 4g signal via Vodafone.es on my phone and patchy 3G signal through various Spanish providers via the Three sim in the mifi.

When using Three abroad on my phone, I've sometimes find that it doesn't always put you on the best provider. Swapping from the automatically selected network has often given me full bore 4G instead of a trickle of 3G.

My friend who lives in Germany tells me that you have to have a permanent address before you can use a German SIM card in Germany

I stopped using the Mifi and moved to a 3 contract which allows tethering £12 a month for unlimited minutes and texts with 12GB of data. If you buy the 30GB contract it is capped at 12GB in Europe

Be very wary when using 3 abroad. It used to be capped and they would cut you off when you reached your UK limit.Since June they start to charge if you go over the 12gb to the amount of your contract. It would cost us £60 now if we actually used our full 20gb in Europe.
If correct and the Vodafone deal allows full usage then it's a better option.Although they might be a lot hotter on the 60 day limit abroad which 3 seem quite casual about.

They can't do that if you don't give them any payment details. We use several 12GB pre-loaded PAYG SIMs. They used to have a 2 month limit for roaming, but now they just stop after 9Gb of roaming on each card. But you can use the remaining 3Gb once you are back in the UK.

I have a Vodafone phone contract with 16gb data and unlimited calls etc. Been using it exclusively abroad since September. Full allowance and tethering and no restrictions. Will last for the duration of the contract and I have this in writing from them.
Just sayin!
