To cut a long story short (as I just managed to delete my first attempt).

I have fitted a dashcam that fits to the, redundant, rear view mirror in our camper van. It comes with a rear view camera too, which I spent all day fitting yesterday. The dashcam works beautifully, but the rear camera's image is upside down and back to front. I can't find anything in the camera settings to correct this, nor in the instructions. Any ideas? I've emailed the Ebay seller with no reply yet.

On our model the settings you are looking for are in the monitor rather than the camera

Sorry, my terminology was at fault. It is the monitor that I have explored for and orientation control, which it seems most have. The camera is just a small black box with a lens.

Ours too, the buttons at the bottom of the monitor turn the picture all ways round.

I thought someone would ask that and I have tried to invert it, but it only swivels one way and will not point where it needs to be. The image is also back to front.

Badknee, I have no such buttons. It is touch screen and I have explored all settings.

Wording will (car number plates) be back to front (mine is) but what is important is that wht you see on the righthand side of the image in the monitor is in fact on the righthand side of your van.

So what denotes on the rear view camera that it is mounted the right way up ? Photo of your rear view camera would help.

Hopefully you can see the images.
Camera will only mount this way, otherwise it points upwards.
Road cones in second picture are on the wrong side and upside down.
Controls are touch screen and I've been everywhere.

I have a similar display. Try using the remote to program it that’s the way mine works.

Looking at the camera mounting in your photo, is it possible that the rear view camera was designed to be fitted low down around the level of a car number plate or bumper so pointing straight back which would allow it to be mounted 180 degrees from your position rather than at high level pointing down.
How was it described on eBay.

I've been wondering if that is the case, but nowhere does it say so.

My take on this is that the camera is upside down in the bracket and the bracket is upside down on the van
Hope that makes sense!

Because of where the pivot point is on the camera casing, with the camera the other way up it would not be able to swing much past horizontal let alone point down. It could possible be used as a rear view camera but as a reversing camera it look no ball.

If the screws on the bracket are under the camera. you have def got the bracket upside down..so take the camera out of the bracket, remove bracket and fit right way up, then refit the camera to the bracket the other way to what it is now.
That will cure the inverted problem.
The mirrored image issue is usually done with the monitor

Nope. Tried that. The camera will not swivel the other way and upside down does make the image the right way up, but it is still back to front. ie objects are on the wrong side - not exactly useful. There is no way of changing orientation that I can find on the monitor.

Sorry, but that has to be the worst definition picture I've ever seen.
It's rubbish..
Get a proper monitor instead of trying to make a mirror something it was never designed to be.

Ha ha ha. The protective film is still on and the sun was shining on the screen. It is just a monitor that clips to the mirror, what's the difference? + the picture is of my gravel drive which makes it look grainy. The picture is actually very good, albeit useless at the rear!
