Autotrail Dakota
Good evening everyone. I hope all is well with you?

I have a problem that I am hoping someone can help me with.

I have a 2010 Autotrail Frontier Dakota, built on the Fiat Ducato chassis. My hab door has ceased working on the remote control key-fob, both on lock and on unlock. I know my remote is working as my step goes up and down on command of the hab door to lock/unlock. Trouble is I can't find any reference to it in the schematic wiring diagrams that come in the owners book, and no reference to a fuse or indeed anything else. It has worked in the past without problem.

Someone suggested I check some contacts for cleanliness located around the door frame that will engage with similar contacts on the door, but there are none and I can't find a door loop to carry the power supply to the lock. It's doing my head in now, so am hoping someone can help.

Regards.

Glenn.

In theory you must have either a set of contacts or a conduit joining the body to the door. I can only suggest looking for these. Mine (different make of moho) is three small metal pins 1/4 of the way up the door latch side. They often need a wipe.

Our hab door has this feature but a different make of motorhome. We think the wires have detached behind the contacts. I hope you can manage manually (as do) and find a long term solution soon. Best wishes.

From off another site with a similar problem.....
Habitation door lock

Hi, had the same problem on my 2011 Apache. Dealer said there was no problem but it would not throw up the same fault when they had it in for checking. Cleaned the small electrical contacts on the door and the door frame and it seemed ok for a while then it stopped working altogether.

Took out the contacts on the door frame and one of the wire connectors had broken. Never seen such a Heath Robinson set up. Got a new connector from maplins and has worked fine ever since.

The contact block in the door frame is a awful design and is not made for constance use in my opinion. If it does go again I will look at seeing if there is a alternative part available.

Hopes this helps. Kev

Sometimes I can be that the lock has been operated by the key, so is out of bonk with the central locking and the CL is confused by this. I don’t think you will have a separate fuse for his as will be powered by the van battery, and controlled by its system
