Cornwall, Norway Cruise and France.

A nice walk but as predicted nothing but a lovely town.

However our evening meal was delicious.
Duck breast with roasted potatoes and sweetcorn.
I did a peach, white wine and brandy sauce.
Worked very well.
Finished with cheese, as one does in France 😋

Looks delish - but I would never do duck in our van - i’m the one that would have to clean up all the fat splashes after!

You both look very chilled and holidayfied lads!

It did take a clean down before we could wash up
But all good now. 😄

Duck was from E.leclerc supermarket, we think.

Duck is very difficult, I always allow it to get to room temperature and cook it fat down from a cold pan but sometimes it's just a bit tough.
However this one was melt in the mouth.
Very happy 😊.

We moved up country to Suisse Normande area to the village of Clècy.
A free aire with paid services.
Thanky you to The Coops for the recommendation earlier in this thread.
After a walk around the village, we carried on to the river area, again a lovely area yet this time we found a couple of restaurants open so we took advantage 😀.
Not bad, plus I got my wish to try a Galette and phil got to wash down his burger with a local cidre so he was happy.

I had duck a couple of times on the cruise. It merely confirmed my previous view that it's generally a bit chewy and rubbery and not worth the effort.
Luv a bit of duck

You’re eating a rubber duck mate, cooked properly it’s one of my faves! Duck breast skin on, hot pan, no oil, skin side down 2-4 mins till browned, turn over sear 1 min, remove, wrap in tinfoil put in a hot oven 12 - 20 mins, depending on size, juice of an orange in small pan, some grated rind and a stock cube to taste (your preference) add a dash of Port or sweet sherry if no port, simmer and reduce, works every time with whatever veg or potato you fancy(y)

Very simple really, in a little duck fat saute the peaches until caramelised, add a knob off butter then add a splash of white wine and a slash of brandy.
Reduce a little. Job done.
In all seriousness have you ever considered a campervan cooking vlog/blog/course? I always feel serious food envy when I see what you cook.

We are steadily moving to Calais for our ferry on Sunday.
Currently on the coast, parked up on free parking next to the river at Deauville, whilst walking in the other side of the river looked interesting.
The plan was to look in on Deauville after lunch but alas that didn't occur.

Walked into Trouville and discovered the fish market, well obviously we had some oysters washed down with a Chablis, we also sampled there Dorada carpaccio.
More wondering and hunger kicked in again, with so many restaurants we choose a old school style restaurant which was a great choice, a little pricy but hey ho.
Phil had foie and I had lobster and avocado mouse to start.
Mains where both both served in a creamy sauce made Gratin, phils was lobster in a saffron sauce mine was sole, with a side of rice which went really well.
Cheese course of course with some Bordeux.
Finished with a sabayon with red fruit and phil had a hazelunut praline.
wow wow wow.
A bottle of Poully-Fume was our wine of choice.

Walked back and had a nana nap. Feeling thoroughly relaxed.
What a lovely town.

After a lovely day in Deauville it was just a driving and very little to do day yesterday. We arrived into Fort-Mahon-Plage just in time to miss the market but we walked down to the beach area, it's ok nothing much of interest.
A great bakers but the rest of the food offers where burgers and chips etc.
So we ate in instead.
I think we may head up to the Auchon hypermarket for tonight to be ready for our ferry on Sunday morning.
Unless I spot a better offering along the coast.

Feeling a little flat this current journey is coming to an end, probably because we have enjoyed it so much, spent far too much on good food and wine and seen some new places that we did enjoy. (Usally drive past the northern france bit to get to sunnier climes)

We booked our tickets to Thailand from the 7th January as our contract in Manchester runs through to the 4th January, we do get Christmas day off though 😀
We will be journeying next March when we get back from Thailand, probably into Spain first and then try to go for the longer term French visa after that.
Im not sure if I have made a boo boo in booking Norse air as they have some disturbing reviews but for the price direct from manchester rather than a 1 stop journey in Amsterdam or Doha it just made sense.
£1480 for 2 return in economy (yes i know it's not business class, tightening the belts 😕)
I did book us extra leg room seats though which bumped up the cost to £1840, well there is a limit.
This is no bags, no food, no drinks basically the ryanair of long hall.
The no bags is never an issue as we travel with just a 8 kilo cabin bag anyway.
Got a heads up on a studio apartment on Jomtien beach with a sea view for only 25000 baht a month (£575) it's cheaper for us to be in Thailand for 2 months than try to do southern Spain, to be honest the weather was not good last year and it was a bind trying to get in any of the camper spots.
Anyway morning musings over 😁

We are now at Auchon outside of Boulogne-sur-mer.
Wine, cider and spirits allowance has been achieved.
We are awaiting pizza and pasta in the Pizza pai restaurant.
The beer is very nice 👌

Oh we are full of diesel and lpg as well ready for our journey home tommorow.
