Holiday season

- hotels shut, campsites shut, public toilets shut, not enough litter bins, quarantine if you go to Spain, Luxemburg and maybe France....

Locked- down for months

The tourist places need us but don't want visitors

Holidaymakers with little chance of going abroad buy tents..... who'd have guessed?

Not the government or local authorities...

And with so many out of work and so much money to spend...

What is your point? All this wallowing in self pity. Since the reopening of sites, restaurants and pubs we have enjoyed a number of trips and days/nights out and have not felt in any way at risk. For the most part everybody is obeying the rules, I can understand that if you sit indoors and just focus on the negative stories in the media and on the BBC you would easily condition yourself into self induced captivity but I can assure you it is not necessary. If you don't feel comfortable somewhere leave, but I think you would be surprised how well most places are managing.

Totally agree. The choice is simple. Holidays or possible Covid with the consequences.
No brainer really. Lifes short enough without cutting it shorter. There are far to many inconsiderate humans I'm afraid.

Don't understand. If the choice is Holidays or possible Covid...I'll take holidays.
I agree life is short. To short to spend time in self imposed purgatory when all that is required is a sensible approach and to follow the rules. Maintain distance, Wash hands, wear masks where required and anywhere social distancing is more problematic.

Enjoy life.

No just fed up with folks complaining

We have a health emergency and public toilets are shut - that alone is wrong - shops pay for security for masks and sd

Why could not LAs provide cleaners, more bins and portaloos or have they forgotten that they are supposed to serve their ratepayers?

Totally agree. Far to much complaining.

Where about are you? Everywhere we have been the public toilets have all been open. There is no reason why they shouldn't be.

The Govt. gave in to pressure to "ease" the lockdown. So they freed up millions of people with no bloody idea of how to social distance. Most seem to think that wearing a face covering is the panacea?. The rest apparently don`t even give a toss about that either. I`ve not been to the local yet, but feedback seems to indicate that once the "younger set" get to the second round all idea`s of giving others space evaporates and it becomes the usual group huddle.!

our Scottish government encouraged people to come do the NC500 , LA’s were shutting toilets as a cost cutting exercise & then complaining about people s######g in the woods

hundreds of people took Nicol’s advise of a staycation & Supported our economy , went to visit Tourist towns , with carparks full they had no choice but to park at the side of the road , they now all have parking tickets !!!!
I’d say a slap in the face for those who took her advise

If the public were not like sheeple and follow a herd instinct the issue would not arise. If you must go out because your individuality has been lost choose a alternative venue.

But even herds need toilets...

They shut public toilets telling us to use shops, pubs, restaurants ....

Release everyone from lockdown to find half the shops, pubs and restaurants are closed as are some of the few remaining public toilets....

I’m don’t know how to answer that 🤕

choose a alternative venue.
In Our case, we are looking to keep our distance and using the CL and CS sites where we can more easily be fully self sufficient. But at the same time not upsetting the community by blatently "wild" camping.

In Southampton the shops are open but the car parks are closed, the council have taken the opportunity to close a lot of roads, they are tying to raise the pollution to a level high enough that they can charge for it, but in the process killing the high street.
I have a friend in Spain, he complained that they have shut off the beach showers as the button can spread covid but the parking ticket machine apparently can not, so they are on.

Local authorities have been stripped of fund for years by successive governments so have had to reduce services which in a lot of cases have been public services like toilets, parks and gardens, libraries, street cleaning Inc litter bins. Covid measures have placed an incredible toll on services across the country, so some things have to be reduced.

The government have been spraying money around like confetti. Libraries, parks and even street cleaning can be left in a health crisis - not bins and toilets.

I wonder how many LA staff have actually been at work in the past 4 months....

Any figures anyone?

Exactly this yesterday in our county town. Restaurants shut, and cafes were pretty much takeaway only, (so no toilet access), and the public toilets shut. But they are sending out lots of traffic wardens.

Well they'll be getting some money in to help clean up....

LAs don't you just love em..... destroy the high streets with parking charges so the town centres don't actually need toilets... and make money out of it

Makes sense...... yeah right

Far too much complaining stop complaining then

They, along with street lights, rubbish collection etc;etc; should be at the forefront of the LA list.Too much spent on lgbt, translation services, etc

Son in law popped into a Mcdonalds the other day to get a coffee and have a pee to be told the toilets were closed to the public.

Had to go to Costa it cost twice the price for the cup of coffee but the loo's were open.

Working outside is a safe option, toilets aren't a very safe option for workers so if you want to protect your staff what do you allow?
Isn't it are own responsibility to look after our own toileting needs or is that someone else's responsibility?

I would guess more than private companies. Police, fire crews, bin crews, bereavement officials, care home staff, park rangers, tip staff, local town parking officials, speed camera van operators, unemployment benefits officials, crematorium staff, cemetery staff, social workers. Shall I continue? These people didn’t have the option of sitting at home on 80% of their wage unlike private companies.
