%&*#! - Coffee everywhere

But elbow grease is an industrial degreaser? (It is an excellent degreaser, btw.)

For coffee?
We used it on all our upholstery, and it brought it up like new. When we bought the van the upholstery was filthy, but Mousy Dawn recommended it, and it transformed everything.

If we get spills on it now, I clean the whole section (spot cleaning doesn’t work), and it works a treat.

Degreaser or not - it seems to work on every stain.

No I was just a numpty and knocked as I used the stirrer thingy, and watched in slow motion as it went over anything and everything in range. I think the van, shoes, ebike battery, beer, whatever will have a coffee aroma for weeks to come.
I’m glad you’ve stopped blaming the Aeropress and admitted it was the idiot(sorry)/person using it. My Aeropress is probably my favourite motorhome gadget. I have a fancy DeLonghi bean to cup machine at home and really missed decent coffee in the van. My Aeropress is so much better and less messy than the cafetière. Pod machines are rubbish if you just like strong black coffee.

Thanks for that. We don't have any stains, but old leather so had used a balm.

I'll keep a bit in the van as a prophylactic!

I also noticed in many older MoHo’s the upholstery was beige / coffee coloured maybe they started cream ?
Haha!

That's ours!

The staining was very precise!

So I've borrowed some of that elbow grease stuff, having first liberally dabbed the spots with clean water. The elbow grease bottle labelling does imply best treatment for oily greasy type stains, so coffee on a loght fabric might not work as well. Slight staining remains as the fabric is now drying. Suspect that I'm going to need a more substantive vanish fabric cleaner and wet vax type treatment when I can eventually get home.

I'm not about to be picky, PP Bear, though I am a little unsure.

Does 'swede' refer to your make of convertible roof?
Mine's a Saab and I use a vacuum cleaner, Milton's sterilising fluid, Johnson&Johnson (Blue) baby shampoo. Sometimes bicarbonate of soda if the bird poo is stubborn. Then, once cleaned, Fabsil water repellent/fabric protector.
Stains easier to remove thereafter.
Auto corrected from suede, which is listed on the back of the instructions on my second picture.

I’ve had my SAAB convertible for 20 years this year and this is my 4th SAAB, all from new and my second convertible, with its original roof and it’s immaculate in every way. Depends on just how mucky the roof is, as sometimes it’s a scrub with fabric roof cleaner such as Renovo, sometimes carpet cleaner and the last clean was with traffic film remover, diluted of course, but all in all, a good clean, a recolour if necessary with Renovo and always Fabsil, but only the Gold as it’s much better than the standard one. Also use the Fabsil cleaner to remove bird poop if required.

Love my SAABs ❤️

Ours is ‘suedette’ Jon, so basically cloth.

Not sure how it would work on leatherette.

Rob you really need to do the whole section, otherwise you’re left with a water stain.

Also it takes a couple of goes, rinsing with water in between.

Like I said, a job for when you get home!

Very nice. Great condition. Mines black with sand interior. 👍

This plus our Vax carpet cleaner did the job for us

Hmm, just returned to my van after a few hours away :drinks: The coffee perfume is quite interesting.
Saves on the air fresheners, and should be good if trying to sell your motorhome!

After reading this thread I am glad our cream and brown (not our choice of colours but it was a new to us van)sre removable, took a chance and put them in the washer on a cold wash, fitting one back on was interesting 🤣
Have also used Beckhams sp for spot stuff when we have had grandkids or clumsy me about.

Our local hand car wash place wanted £20 per seat to wash them after some heavy staining.

Not at all unreasonable given the amount of work required, but I decided to take a punt on buying an Akitas X6 cleaner on the basis that it only needed to do one job in order to pay for itself.

It's been great and I've used it on several vehicles now. I'm sure it's not as good and won't last as long as some of the £200+ ones but it's served its purpose well.

Agreed, so much less messy.

Have you tried re-usable pods? You can use the coffee of your choice then.

Ian
I wouldn’t want to go back to a pod machine as I have my bean to cup machine at home and the Aeropress is ideal for the van. Size wise it’s good as well as we have a PVC.

I’ve just bought one for son in law as the voltage adjuster thing for their bean to cup machine has started playing up after 6 months of Alex’s serious use in Panama! He is worse than me . He needs 4 cups in the morning . I have earnt serious brownie points in the MIL stakes!

Hi Rob
At least it wasn’t milk. That stinks for ever in a hot van.
Phil

On the upside, at least the whole process will have made those lovely slippers that bit more accurate.

WD40 will remove lots of stains, not used it for coffee spills but ive removed blood, lipstick, paint, and tar quite successfully, the positive of this is it's always at hand and spills don't get a chance to penetrate the fibres too much.
