So how do I get all the coffee, with all the coffee grounds, out of the seat fabric :(

Whoever said an Aeropress was mess free, lied :madder:

We use Elbow Grease on ours Rob.

Bought in the cheap shops and brings fabric up like new every time.

Ill ask my OH because she gets all sorts of stains incl coffee out of a white tablecloth. Don't jump in to using just anything because there may be a protective coating on your seats, which some cleaners may remove.

I'd begin with letting it dry and then vacuuming the grounds up. Then a damp microfibre cloth rubbing from edge towards centre of each stain.

Back later with OH's answer.

For everyone with cloth seats; have look for Fabsil. It's a water repellant for outdoor wear and tents etc. Convertible roofs too. It makes liquids 'bead' rather than soaking into the cloth. Hth

Ok. So I've been told to start with Vanish and, specifically, the one in the first photo. Then (my suggestion), when its dried, take a photo of the stained areas. The camera will pick up slight colours (stain remnants and bodged vehicle paint repairs too) better than human eye. Then (continuing OHs instruction), if necessary, use the bleaching product.

Afterwards, I'd use Fabsil to protect against future spillages or stains and I'd apply to all seats in the moho.

Drink tea or decaffeinated? Let it dry and work on a small patch at a time if you over wet it the area will look like you might have a botty problem on the seat. There are proprietary dry foams that will lift the stain i.e 1001 cleaner or make a paste up of fairy liquid and baking soda, work it into the stain and then a wet cloth and blot it out. White vinegar will also work but your van will smell like a chippy!

I use the Tesco own brand version of the Vanish carpet and rug spray.

But then I've also got a wet and dry spot cleaner thingy.

The dirt it sucks out of seats is quite scary.

Without a wet-vac you are going to struggle. The best thing to do with all stains, particularly if they are still wet, is to dilute then extract and keep repeating until you can get no more out. Thereafter, if you can get your hands on it now, carbon tetrachloride was our go-to remover for disasters.
Just to add, a lot of new synthetic fabrics are solution-dyed. This is when the colour is put into the yarn when it is in liquid state. That colour is locked inside and you can usually use fairly aggressive cleaning agents. However, and with all cleaning methods, you need to try a test area out of sight to establish what you are working with.
Good luck

You could hire a Rug Doctor from a supermarket. It comes with a handheld attachment which is great for jobs like this. The sprays are fine but I suspect you'll need a deeper clean for your coffee spill. ☕

I wouldn't use anything that contains bleach as it could do just that bleach it white, it can also rot the fabric.
FYI. If it is a Solution-Dyed synthetic fabric, bleach would have no effect on the colour. Strong alkaline products can rot fabric though. Ditto solvents.

I use this on everything, including my convertible roof that’s covered in birds poop, sap and loads of road grime and it’s pretty dam good at shifting all the stains. Easypeasy to use too, but test first, especially if it’s swede 👍🏻

I cant help but giggle at the fact that listed as your exp "you still make school boy errors" well thats 1 big bloody error :giggle:

Yeah, we have the Shark equivalent. It's fantastic.

Re Aeropress, I suspect you overfilled it :-( if you top it to the brim and don't quite seat the plunger perfectly the pressure can cause this to happen. I know from painful experience.

If you get the stains out treat the fabric with Scotchguard to protect against further mishaps.

We always treat ours when new and at yearly intervals. A recent spill of a half cup of coffee simply wiped straight off.

Good luck!

Did similar indoors last week on the light coloured carpet always soak up the worst with a paper towel. As another poster said use a Vax, I pre cleaned with a VAX oxy spray then used the Vax if you don’t want to buy a full carpet cleaning machine they do a spot washer. https://www.vax.co.uk/spotwash-spot-cleaner

No I was just a numpty and knocked as I used the stirrer thingy, and watched in slow motion as it went over anything and everything in range. I think the van, shoes, ebike battery, beer, whatever will have a coffee aroma for weeks to come.

I recall being at college when young I had beans on toast which I placed on a table, I grabbed a nearby chair and held it by one leg taking it over the table to where I was going to sit. Holding that chair by one hand I felt it start to rotate as it fell it caught the side of my plate…..the plate shot up into the air spinning as it went….beans everywhere my mates where covered and not sure they ever forgave me.

Coffee aroma is much better than if the black box had split and spilt 😉

Could smell worse, I suppose.

Can't add anything to the above but we had good results with Vanish or similar

Have you got a Karcher dehumidier for removing condensation from glass. You might find that does a half decent job.

Also, you say there are no covers, have a good look because a lot of upholstery is covered and is removeable, as in our van. Sometimes its only velcro'd on edges out of site. Others have 'blind zips' that are very fine and need to be looked for. If the cover does come off it makes it a lot easier. We had an accident with tea onto a beige footstool yesterday at home. 6 screws to remove the top from the hinges, then ease away the Velcro all the way round and into the washing machine it went. With the number of kids and animals w have had through the house, I think this is the fourth suite we have bought with 'removable covers!

But elbow grease is an industrial degreaser? (It is an excellent degreaser, btw.)

For coffee?

This video may be useful, I have some Hydrogen Peroxide 6% but no ammonia, but your welcome to try the Hydrogen Peroxide by itself.

I'm not about to be picky, PP Bear, though I am a little unsure.

Does 'swede' refer to your make of convertible roof?
Mine's a Saab and I use a vacuum cleaner, Milton's sterilising fluid, Johnson&Johnson (Blue) baby shampoo. Sometimes bicarbonate of soda if the bird poo is stubborn. Then, once cleaned, Fabsil water repellent/fabric protector.
Stains easier to remove thereafter.
