%&*#! - Coffee everywhere

WD40 will remove lots of stains, not used it for coffee spills but ive removed blood, lipstick, paint, and tar quite successfully, the positive of this is it's always at hand and spills don't get a chance to penetrate the fibres too much.
And leaves the van with that gorgeous manly smell too 👍🏻

If it’s good enough for aftershave, then it gets my vote, plus the carpet won’t rust either 🙄

I've resorted to this in an emergency carpet clean, and it will generally remove the stain, but I have found over the long term it does eventually replace the removed stain with it's own stain, less significant but still there.

Logical, after all it's oil.

Kannon Fodda , when you get home or somewhere more local, check out your friends or equipment rental places to see if you can get hold of a proper steamer. Or a pressurised steam iron(eg Polti though other makes should be just as good).
I recalled this morning having used ours to remove coffee stains at home, from the cloth settee*. (And wine previously 🍷)
Works on high-percentage wool carpet too.

*we already knew it would tolerate water because it's a loose-covered settee and those covers get washed in the normal washing machine.

If we're talking about the original WD 40 we all refer to it, and think of it as an oil, but I don't think the word " oil " is actually used on the can description, which is odd.

You will be bored to know this morning's aeropress coffee making passed without incident. A very firm grip of the device was employed :)
It could have been worse, for instance "black paint" as I found you don't even have to open the can to get marks from that somewhere. As a school lad I was detailed off by my old man to collect a special mix of black paint he needed for a project on my way home from school. Thinking nothing of it I packed the tin in my school satchel. When I got home I was "extremely " dismayed to find a liberal coating of black paint all over the covers and pages of my school books. At the garage they had overfilled the tin, which was fine till I tipped it on it's side in my satchel then the residue around the rim ran over my books. Oh, what fun I had having to copy all the work in the exercise books across to new books, no copy and paste in them days. I still methodically check paint can lids and rims for any residue today.

No I was just a numpty and knocked as I used the stirrer thingy, and watched in slow motion as it went over anything and everything in range. I think the van, shoes, ebike battery, beer, whatever will have a coffee aroma for weeks to come.
I’ve done similar in the office kitchen.

I’ve stopped using the stirrer, just use the ‘inverted’ method and don’t fill completely with water. Turn it the right way up over the mug and leave for 3-5mins before plunging.
As others have said, Aeropress produces good strong coffee base, and is generally clean and the grounds and can be composted. Cleaner and easier than a french press, though I an tempted to try a Bialetti Moka pot

I hate instant coffee and have tried various methods/machines for brewing it in the van. I've had a couple of spills myself (not as bad as yours though Rob!) so thought I'd try coffee bags.

The majority from supermarkets don't hit the spot but I really like the Percol Americano (strong!) from Costco and Moreish Organic Peruvian from Amazon
- quick and easy, have a decent kick and no grinds to dispose of.

Brake cleaner is a good one for carpets possibly a better option than an oily wd40.

I’m glad you’ve stopped blaming the Aeropress and admitted it was the idiot(sorry)/person using it. My Aeropress is probably my favourite motorhome gadget. I have a fancy DeLonghi bean to cup machine at home and really missed decent coffee in the van. My Aeropress is so much better and less messy than the cafetière. Pod machines are rubbish if you just like strong black coffee.
What's wrong with the good old paper filters, put it in the funnel, pour over the water, allow to drain for a few minutes ( I do mine in the sink while eating my porridge incase it runs over but rarely does once your used to it) fold the filter and dregs, deposit it in rubbish bin. Simples!

Because it’s nowhere near as good as an Aeropress or a bean to cup machine but if you like it then that’s fine.

I’ve been very impressed with our Aeropress (the travel version). At home, I use a Rancilio Sylvia espresso machine for lovely coffee but the Aeropress is a good second-best for use in the van.
Have also used a Moka pot but it’s not, in my view, as good as the Aeropress.

I once drop a 5ltr can of red emulsion in Homebase, they replaced it, the stain on the floor lasted longer than the paint on our walls

A very long time ago, I delivered paint for Manders Paints. Once, just as I’d arrived at Tophams in Scarborough, two five litres of white gloss paint toppled forward and both lids popped off. The paint ran out of the van (after covering the other paint tins awaiting delivery) and into the road.
Thirty years later, I walked past where this happened on the way to the cricket ground and there was still evidence of my mishap in the road.

I like it for convenience in, totally different at home.
Have you tried the new Aeropress?

No batteries required.

Strange, I sure I read lately in one of the travel magazines that Aeropress had just released a coffee maker with rechargeable batteries that can be used for heating the water, this is why I asked about the new one?

I just looked on their website and can't find it there, I thought it was in either the CMHC or CCC magazines?

If someone can show me a link to a battery operated genuine Aeropress then I will understand but as far as I understand it there isn’t one. The beauty of it is that it is simple, even the travel one needs you to provide your own hot water, one of my sons has one.

Not Aeropress but they do exist, I haven't tried one so can't give a recommendation but if you're feeling a little flush and like to try new gadgets :giggle:

We have a bean to cup machine at home and when we go away in the van we take our beans with us and use a small grinder (using the inverter) and make coffee in the Biaretti on the stove so still get a good flavoured coffee.

So sorry to hear that, hope you can get it cleaned. Google searched to see what a Aeropress was? LOL I could see right away it was a accident waiting to happen, if the cup does have a wide base
