Does anyone know the ins and outs of gaining CS\CL Status from the two main clubs?

I always thought that they both had a Royal Charter or some such thing that allowed them to grant the CL\CS status to a small site and doing so circumvented the need to gain planning permission from local councils?

I'm asking on behalf of a site that has helped us (MHF) out on a number of occasions, they are looking to move from 5 non electric pitches to 10 and the Council are blocking on the basis of it being an eyesore!

Cheers

Ring the C&CC and ask for the exempted sites unit. I understand they have delegated authority to register or approve the application. For a larger site then its a club listed site, which is back to the local authority. can the proposed site be shielded from the passing road , sounds like further discussions with the club or L/A. Hope this helps, good luck.

Both 'clubs'? have no more authority than our glorious leader.
They can issue an exemption from requiring a licence to have a camp site but that exemption only allows the owner to have 5 units, (plus tents in the case of CCC.)
They have no authority to go beyond 5 units.

Some get around the restrictions by having both a CL and a CS... presumably by having 2 areas/fields.

Have a conversation with Jim as MHF has certification authority, so at a minimum will know all the criteria.

Somewhere on the CAMC website I've seen a couple of pages on 'How to become one of our CL group'.
(You don't have to be a CAMC member to view it).

Maybe easier to set up two ‘independent’ sites next door to each other, each accommodating five units? Would have to be legally separate, I guess!

I know of a long standing CL here who also is a separate CS site. The two sets of vans are separated but both on his property and in reality only probably about 50m apart at the most, so it must be possible. Here is a photo from GE

so you can see the sites either side of the shower & toilet building and both accessed down the same drive off the main road

As long as 8yrs ago the CCC had a policy that would deny an application in such circumstances.

Any certificating authority is likely to or should consult with the local council before agreeing to certification. If the council object I cannot see approval being given.

I stayed at a CL the other day that was also a CS. Fairly well separated though to be fair.
